Purple Iris in flower
Bought at another Open Garden three years ago, it has made a good-sized clump. it looks almost black when the sun isn't shining through it.

I am so sorry, Buzzbee, but they didn't give me the name - the house owner kindly went and dug up a rhizome on the spot from his 'cutting garden' as his stall had run out - everyone wanted a piece!

This is beautiful - do you have the proper name? We have one Iris (other than reticulata) in our garden - never been sure of them before now - but the colour of this might convince me.
