Bought one of these with no label in the cheap bin at our local garden center Barbara and we thought it was a type of Fuchsia...Lol! Pleased you've posted this...ours is back in flower too.....:o)

Its common name IS Cape Fuchsia, Janey! :-))

I bought a larger plant this time - in the hope that it just might like my garden this time!

WAIL!!! Woe is me! Phygelius don't like me! sob. sob.

i have several and they are behaving well for me so dont worry spritz. what did the others do? any cream/ivory amongst them.

6 Nov, 2009

Nope. All similar - a deep pinky-red! They are in pots, growing on a bit more. Shame - I hoped for a pale one for the back garden!

oops. i will put that right for you once the post is settled. sorry about that i blame the plant company for the mis labelling. if you want to sell them on and pop proceeds onto a fav charity i wont mind one bit

Now this should be added to your list of thugs as I've been trying to get rid of one for years but it keeps fighting back.

7 Nov, 2009

:o well if you're going to put them on your plant stall, I'll be up visiting :))))))))

thats a brilliant solution, the ngs is perfect. if they are pinky red then they are Candydrops 'deep rose'. Have you any pictures of them in flower?

7 Nov, 2009

I don't think so, Sbg. Sorry! :-(((

These go mad in our garden, we had a yellow and a red, have to keep them well under control.

7 Nov, 2009

Not fair! :-((

7 Nov, 2009

Well...that explains it Spritz.......sounds like its hardy too, shall have to find a spot for it now...:o)

8 Nov, 2009

Good luck with yours, Janey! I hope it thrives. :-)))

Don't trim it til March then cut stems back by about a third to a half to above a good pair of leaf shoots.

11 Nov, 2009

OK - I'll try that, if it's still with me next year! Thanks. :-))
