Gold Pansy

Gold Pansy

I fell for this - it's a great colour to go with Heuchera 'Marmalade' - so I got three, to plant round it.

Different, isn't it! Some of the flowers are slightly frilly, as well. :-))

Gorgeous colour. I have just bought Cats eye Gold today which is almost the same but with a red petal where yours has the unmarked gold one. Still can't load photos so done my best at describing it. Potted mine with white cyclamen so they make each other shine

7 Oct, 2009

Is it all red, or just part of the petals, Pipsqueak? These do have a red part on some of the petals. I'll have to try to get another photo from a different angle so you can tell if they are the same as yours.

I'd like to know if that's their name! :-))

7 Oct, 2009

The whole of the plain petal is a dark velvety red. I am going to chop the flowers off though as they will flower better and longer if I take the 1st ones off

7 Oct, 2009

These were potted up in quite big pots with 5 or 6 flowers on each plant - and I'm not taking all the flowers off! People do, I know - but I just CAN'T...LOL.

7 Oct, 2009

The red in the background looks like that on mine so yours could well be Cats Eye Gold. The dark streaks remind me of eyelashes. Go on - Bite the Bullet. LoL

7 Oct, 2009

Oh, so you BITE off the flowers, do you? LOL.

Nope - can't! Just CAN'T!!!!!!

8 Oct, 2009

Sprinkle with sugar or drizzle honey first. Yummy!!

8 Oct, 2009

No - even that doesn't tempt me - NOT doing it! Hmmmph!! Poor little pansies....

8 Oct, 2009

Never heard of that one before, Spritz you are like our eldest daughter, she has a new grape vine with a few bunches growing...husband told her she should cut them off, would she.....no way!! her husband was on her side as well lol

8 Oct, 2009

So do you nip off the flowers on your pansies, Dd??

8 Oct, 2009

Dont usually buy pansies Spritz....but today bought some violas to put under the bay tree, and I certainly will not be biting off their heads, they are only wee.

10 Oct, 2009

Good! I'm glad you said that, Dd. I've never done it - and haven't had any problems with the flowering period...

10 Oct, 2009

No lets leave it to Pipsqueak.............

11 Oct, 2009

The trouble is that it isn't just Pipsqueak doing it - people are munching pansy and viola flowers all over the place! Not here, they're not!!!

I think this pansy is called 'Amber Kiss' by the way! Saw it in a seed catalogue.

12 Oct, 2009

Not Amber bite or Amber nectar then?
