Hydrangea paniculata 'Pink Jewel'

Hydrangea paniculata 'Pink Jewel' (Hydrangea paniculata (Hydrangea))

Hidden by the thugs called Japanese Anemones, I hadn't realised that this had flowered for the first time! It's more than two years old.

A nice surprise Barbara , I have to admit that I have been trying to get rid of Japanese Anemones for the last two year but they still keep popping up in the middle of other plants !

Its lovely very pretty. I have just had mine dug out, their roots are like runners under the ground, hope mine don't come back either, what is it with Japanese plants there is the Japanese knot weed too .

I love this...

Thanks - it really was a lovely surprise! Amazing that it even survived, let alone flowered - 5 flowers, too.

I really do have a big problem with the Jap. Anemones - yes, they do pop back up, Amy! I want to get rid of all of the ones in front of my obelisk and plant something more well-behaved. I suspect that I'll have to resort to weed killer!

It is amazing how you all have trouble with the anemones mine are really well behaved, it must be the soil difference, I want mine to grow lol
Very delicate shades re Hydrangea Spritz.

I too think that they are thugs but I like them.

You wouldn't if they flopped everywhere and smothered other plants in spite of best endeavours to stake them! They just grow taller to spite me! LOL. I'd quite like to notice when plants flower, not to find them by accident!

Oh come now Spritz, where's your sense of adventure and discovery?

I dug some out this afternoon (only two small clumps so far!) - take a look at my photos to see what I planted instead!

I will do tonight.

If I've got the energy, I might just have a go at digging more of the thugs out this afternoon. That bed wil be a lot better with just some left at the back! VERY hard work, though. The roots are as thick as parsnips...but go much deeper! Unfortunately, they'll pop back up as I can't get all the roots out. :-((
