New Camera - thank you Karen for a lovely surprise.

Hope these pictures appear the correct way up, but sure someone will let me know if they are not! Taken this afternoon on a very wet day, but just had to have a play with my lovely new camera.

I can fit my camera in my pocket now and have it with me wherever I wander. No need to take pictures on my phone anymore. So from now on you should be able to view any pictures I put on GoY the right way up and not get a screw neck looking at them.

My new camera was an early surprise birthday present and was just what I wanted.

While the battery was charging I downloaded the instruction manual and read up on the do’s and don’ts and how it all works. It is a wet day, a bit like April showers, one minute the sun is shining and then it is slinging it down with rain. Once the battery was charged up I had to wait for a lull in the showers and went outside to snap up some pictures. Hope they are the correct way up for you to view.

This is the first rose on this climber this year, bit late, but it had been swamped out by Rambling Rector and has just produced this lovely rose after I gave it room to grow. It is Golden Showers and a lovely rose, not sure if it is correctly labelled though as I thought it would be a smaller flower. Any one any idea if it is correctly named?

Nerines still showing off!

and so is this beautiful rose – Pat Austin – it has flowered for ages and is such a pretty colour.

I shall be a while getting used to the controls and ability of the new ‘toy’ but thought I should show some of the first pikkies with you all.

Hope you are still able to get out and about in the garden, I am hoping tomorrow will be a little better weather wise here, so that I can get outside and get some practice with my new camera.

Yes, it looks just like my Golden Showers climber in the last garden.not a small flower .quite a scent and turn pinkish after a few days.
Mine used to flower very early....may time and then again later in summer. But they had plenty of sunlight.

Super photos - you'll have a great time getting to grips with all you'll be able to do with the new camera - what a great present. Happy birthday from me too.

Thank you Stera I shall be busy learning for a few weeks new technology and my brain do not go well together. lol. but I will get better as I go along, always think the best way to learn is to jump in and have a go. Thanks for the birthday wishes too :O)

thank you both I am very spoiled. I love taking pictures but got quite frustrated having to change them all around and sometimes the darned things still appeared on their sides. My old camera is a good one but was always too big to carry around, now I have one to put in my pocket so I shall be able to go snap happy lol. You might all get a bit bored of me eventually. lol. Thanks for the birthday wishes still a few days to go. :O)

Excellent! Yes, definitely Golden Showers. We've had a really grey, wet day too. I have been painting skirting boards before we get the new flooring in a couple of weeks. No gardening at all today. Glad you like your new camera x

The photo's are lovely Barbara, all the correct way up and nice and sharp, if you are anything like me then the only way to learn is by trial and error, I have a brain lapse as soon as I open an instruction manual, it goes in at the time but blowed if I can remember it all the next time I pick up said camera, I find it easier to try out all the various functions on a regular basis and learn that way.
One thing we all do here is to buy an extra battery, that way we can always have them charged up, nothing worse than seeing a marvellous shot only to find your battery is dead..
Its a marvellous gift so enjoy playing with it..

Pictures are bright and sharp with perfect orientation.
Plants are lovely.
Happy birthday from me as well. All the best.

thank you everyone, so pleased with my new toy. I am hoping to get some nice autumnal shots when the trees have turned their various shades of gold and yellows. Better morning here this morning, if a tad sticky underfoot, will make the most of the next few days as it is supposedly going to be dry and windy. Thank you for my early birthday wishes too, happy gardening everyone. :O)

Wet and windy here. By the way, I have tried lots of different settings on my camera, but apart from Macro shots, for which the Macro setting is best, I find I get the best photos on automatic...IA on my camera. Sometimes I use the landscape setting, but tbh, the camera adjusts itself to that anyway when I'm on IA.

Lovely pics. I have a new camera that fits in my pocket too and so easy to use. It will help pass e time over the winter..?

15 Oct, 2016

Spent yesterday trying to memorise how to get to the different settings, still no idea. lol. will leave it on Auto for the time being and point and click. Thanks everyone for your good wishes.

Karen the manual is so confusing, lol well for my brain it is. I have found the macro setting but by pure chance. Following the instruction manual did not help one bit. Now all I have to remember is how did I get to that setting in the first place. Had to give up last night and re-charge the battery which I had flattened trying out various settings. lol. said to Sam last night think I need a course at college. Will keep practising and re-charging lol. off out in the garden this morning be warned............... there might be lots of pictures appearing. I did say MIGHT! lol such fun. x

15 Oct, 2016

Yeah...keep it on auotomatic and save your brain cells!

15 Oct, 2016

had another look this morning and think I have sussed it out lol. amazing it just seemed to click, maybe that is all I needed to do, just to sleep on it. Not as dense as I thought I was, we shall see.......

Such a lovely early birthday gift ... I'm sure you'll get the hang of the functions soon! Enjoy it ... :o)

Great! You'll be able to show me how to use mine! ;)

15 Oct, 2016

lol judging by your photos you do not need any assistance. lol.

15 Oct, 2016

Our main camera for photographing our artwork has all the manual info stored on it. Trouble is I can never remember how to get at it. I usually have to google it. :0)
Your new pics are lovely.

15 Oct, 2016

Thank you Linda, that is just how I am lol :O)

15 Oct, 2016

What a kind and thoughtful daughter you have !! have fun with your new toy, trial and error every time, I detest manuals, use YouTube if I need advice, works for me!
Golden Showers such a super rose, as Paul commented, flowers earlier and then later on in the year, a clean yellow.
Best Birthday wishes for whenever........all pics perfectly positioned lol

15 Oct, 2016

Stunning photographs, I feel I could touch those rose petals. My own camera given up the ghost so taking pics on a kindle fire - but no idea how to transfer them to the computer, that's a step too far! Enjoy your photography and your birthday.

15 Oct, 2016

Thank you Ginellie, much appreciated. Try googling to see how you can transfer the pictures always think that is a very useful tool on the computer. I have learned lots from trolling on google. Only problem I have is remembering all the things I learn. lol. but that's old age for you, just got to learn to live with it. lol. can be frustrating, if you allow it. :O)

16 Oct, 2016

You are right Olive, I will google it. However you are also right about the old age bit!

22 Oct, 2016

I am the same Homebird watch and learn is my motto! thank you for your birthday wishes. :O)

25 Oct, 2016

Gorgeous pics, so sharp & the colour is intense - put that manual away cos you're doing great!

28 Oct, 2016

thanks Gf. I am getting there with the settings now. It does help that I can point and click and then if I need to the software programme on my computer can adjust the lightness and brightness and make them look more like I know what I am doing, clever things these computers. lol. :O)
