Now you see it Now you don't

I love days like today, not hot with a little cloud cover to keep out the heat, no rain apart from a few drops (I know others have had a few torrential downpours today.) Sort of day you can work in the garden without getting heat stroke and without getting soaked through to the skin.

So off I toddled up to the woodland border and cleared out the couch grass and then set about the border in front of it. All tidy and still got some energy. So………. what next, well I have grown lots of plants from seed and not got a spare border so thought here goes more grass to come out :-

Before :-

After:-

Needless to say I have no energy left now! and just so that all you that are saying we have had rain all day it is absolutely slinging it down here now. But it will wash the soil down in my new border ready for me to plant it all up. Hope you are all having as much fun as I have had it is so satisfying getting the jobs done!

Oh you'll soon not need a mower at all, there's you digging the grass up and my hubby nagging me to create more, according to him that will make life in the garden easier, what does he know about it, he only mowed the lawns last year when I was unable to do them and now thinks he's an expert, lol. Been chucking it down here for the last few days, I was away most of last week and my lawns are going mad, mind you we are decorating in the kitchen so I'd be annoyed if the days were good and I was stuck indoors, saying that I still want the sun to hurry back, we are never satisfied are we ?......
Wish my Heucheras liked my soil, yours look really healthy and happy in yours, all mine have to be in pots....

I've had a,iserable few days...thick fog and rain. But it lifted today and we even had a bit of sun so got the grass all cut and hauled all the weeds outof the shady woodlandborder behind my greenhouse. That was a useless bit of grass Mum..no point keeping it really. Its much better as a border. Tomorrow...rain all day after 11am. :((

Looks wonderful.
Couch grass is in every one of our beds and has been for a very long time! Hope yours has gone for good after your hard work!

There is something very satisfying, digging out some grass to create more planting space, isn't there, OliveOil.
I wish we had your weather. It's been appalling here, most of the spring/early summer. Rain, rain, thunder, lightning, rain........and more rain!

thank you everyone, it was hard work but well worth the effort and the rain last night will have given the soil a good soaking ready for planting up when I have the time.

You certainly were very busy, Olive! I suppose grass is alright when all you have to do is to look at it - like we do! The local council keeps it fairly neat & tidy so all we have to do is look at it! It's just a square about 10m to a side with a couple of manhole covers - nearly under our kitchen window.

Sometimes I would like to get on to it & put some flower beds into it! My wife was saying, not for the first time in the last 16 years, why don't I ask the council if they will let me tend to the square of grass! But I think I'm too comfortable with my balcony to go digging up the grass! If I put in flowerbeds I'd have to cut the grass around them! No, sir, too much like hard work at my age! :D))

I understand, that must be good though knowing you do not have to trim it every few days. Stick with your balcony you do a good job with that. I hate cutting grass, its such hard work, although after saying that the paths around the garden are all grass and they are much harder to keep trimming good job my mower is a narrow one and it doesn't get easier with the years creeping upwards. lol :O)
