About me
I live on the north coast of Somerset.
This area misses all extremes of bad weather and gives us a good mild region to garden in, for 'me' the worst weather here is strong winds (south westerlies).
This garden is a small town garden on a stoney hillside and is affected by drought and winds, i have just under 30' x30' at the front and a bit smaller at the back.
Some of my favourite plants are Clematis, Irises, Alpines, flowering perennials, shrubberies - not too keen on hard landscaping.
I love to see other peoples gardening styles and particularly like seeing planting and gardens from those in hotter climates.
The soil is thin, poor and alkaline which i improve in some area and leave in others.
In the summer i have to water copiously daily because the hillside, the winds, the neighbouring shrubs and the 2 walls sheltering it make it a very dry garden.
In winter it's a bonus though because the would-be tender plants don't get cold wet feet and i can get most of them through the coldest ones.
I love the spring and summer in the gardeners year.
