About me
I live on the north coast of Somerset - this area misses all extremes of bad weather and gives us a good mild region to garden in.
I've been in this garden for 3 years now - it's a small, town garden, on a hillside which can get a lot of south westerly winds.
When i moved here the garden was a grass only site (both back and front) so i had a lovely blank canvas to play with .
Some of my favourite plants are Clematis, i love Irises, Alpines, flowering perennials, shrubberies and well kept lawns - not too keen on hard landscaping and am definately a plantaholic.
I love to see other peoples gardening styles and particularly like seeing planting and gardens from those in hotter climates.
I have the same size front and back gardens, about 30'x30'.
The back is on 3 levels ... (divided by sleepers and a dry stone wall) ... mostly lawns and shrubs with a rock garden too.
The front ......
.... is flat, enclosed by hedges but contains flowering perennials and small shrubs.
The soil here in the front is thin, poor and alkaline which i improve in some areas and not in others, depending on what i want to grow.
In the summer i have to water copiously daily because the hillside, the winds and the 2 walls sheltering it make it a very dry garden.
In winter it's great though because the would-be tender plants don't get cold wet feet - a killer for a lot of perennials.
I love the spring and summer in the gardeners year and am definately a warm weather person and come alive as it gets warmer !!! The cold does not suit me at all and i'm definately not a winter person !
I have 2 cats that love being in the garden with me and a busy job that takes up too much precious garden time sometimes but i still manage to tend my garden !!!
