Pride and Prejudice

Yes ladies I have visited Pemberley or should I say Lyme Park. I sat by the lake but no Mr Darcy appeared and my husband Barry had no intentions getting his feet wet even tho" it was a hot day.
We decided to go south to Cheshire to share some of the warm weather which I am afraid is just a memory now.
It was a National Trust Garden trip….. Acorn Bank Garden and Sizergh Castle Garden in Cumbria, Biddulph Grange Garden in Staffordshire, and Little Moreton Hall and Lyme Park in Cheshire.
I have to say I didn’t think much of the local talent!!!
Here are some photographs of that warm summer trip.

Fantastic Linda! Havent been to Lyme Park as yet and we were so busy looking for Biddulph Grange (road diversions) that we didnt have time for Moreton. They are definitely on my list after seeing these pics!
And what lovely weather you had too..thanks for the tour Linda.

Wow ... that bought back some happy memories for me & at the same time, made me realize that although I love living back in NZ, I do still miss living in England. Lovely photos.

A great tour Linda, on favourites as a reminder of places to visit.

Lovely blog, what a beautiful place.

Beautiful! Although I have to say, much as I admire Colin Firth (Mr D'arcy) as an actor, give me Matthew Mcfadyen striding across the dew-soaked meadow towards Kiera Knightely any time! ;o)
The formal planting - although not my favourite - is fantastic and the effort put into making it so perfect is amazing. What a lovely day you had!

Lovely Linda.

It was a combination of places over four days Hywel, but Lyme Park is easy to pick out.
I preferred the BBC production Nariz as it was more accurate. They changed the ending a bit in the Kiera Knightely film to suit the American audience!! Elizabeth Bennet had no trouble sleeping and she wasn't out in the fields in the early hours in her night wear. (tut! tut!)
I recommend Biddulph Grange (photos 1,5,6) and Little Moreton Hall is a fantastic place too (photo 8) pity you missed it Tetrarch. I also loved Sizergh Castle (Photo 4) near the Lake District, Stroller.
You will just have to pay the old country a visit Dwyllis.
Costas.......SO DO I.
Thanks for the comments .....Lulu, Olive, Paul and Sheilar. :o))

Intend to do that in a few years, as my OH has never visited UK .... but with two sons now living in America, & little grandchildren to visit, that's where we'll be headed over the next two years at least. Once the grandchildren reach school age, they will remember us more easily & skype will probably suffice for a while .... that's when I will be able to revisit England & Europe ... & by then my garden will be established & be able to fend for itself for a while.

Isn't skype a wonderful thing Dwyllis? I keep in touch with people all over the world with it.
