Aptly named after the Greek word for rainbow this genus is grown extensively in gardens for their vast variety of flower colours.

I love the 3 you have posted, but of them I think this is my favourite - it's more straightforwardly beautiful than the other more elaborate blooms. I like it very much.

Hi Xela...I just bought a yellow water iris...it seemed ok in the pond but I put it in soil because I may drain the pond this winter and have to bring the waterlilies in...wouldn't have room for iris too...it's supposed to be quite hardy...hope it works...how long have you had yours?

wonderful... I've got more plants on my wish list now than I have room for in my garden....and here's another one! lol. I love the light of late afternoon or early morning...something about the acute contrast and the long shadows...terrific pic.

It was 90* early ier today, then had thunder & rain off & on most of the day. It cleared about 3:30 with lovely sunshine, a cool breeze and 70*. I actually managed to get all the grass cut by 8p.m. Now this weather, sunny and fresh, I could take all summer!!

Lovely! Took a few hot days...but things are starting to pop! Thunder rumbling all around me today. Wish it would rain and clear the air.

Thankyou. This is a dwarf variety and seems to put it's energy into spreading outwards rather than up. Nice for the front of a border.
