How old is it mine did not flower for the first 3 years

It's about 20 yrs old. lol. I found it lying in the middle of a road. Some yobs had pulled it out of a display and thrown it there so I rescued it and took it home. It was small then but much bigger now. It's in a big pot.

That might be the problem, i can't say i have seen ones in pots that have flowered, but that might not be accurate.

Mushybanna:

You're probably correct...that Phorbium will not bloom well in a pot. Some of the dwarf may though. This plant is very commonly grown here in the landscape because of its drought tolerance. The variegated forms with pink strikes are especially popular.

Mushybanna:

Usually, Phormium tenax - the pink stripped varietes grow smaller...only to about 6 feet / 2 meters tall...the other varieties can grown to 8 feet / 2.5 meters or taller.

Mushybanna:

I forgot to mention the heights above are only when plants are grown in the ground...which that's the only way they grow here.
