Sorry Marguerite it must be British humour. I think all the fantasising helps them to forget the awful weather. Being British myself I think it's very funny even though I don't have to contend with their weather at the moment. This whole joke about Mafia frogs and snails etc goes back to a blog written by Grenville some time ago, and picked up by Bonkers and various others. You might understand more if you read this, or you might decide you just have to tolerate the crazy British sense of humour!
