Spring is Sprung!

Even though our back lawn is still wet from the overflow off the heathland at the back of us, the garden is beginning to show signs of Spring. It’s about time, as I am sure we are all fed up of the rain that has been falling since Christmas.

So to cheer us all up here is some colour from our garden!

Even though the daffodil is regarded by many as a “common” Spring flower, I love it. (Well I am Welsh!). We have miniature daffs scattered around our doorway and terrace and they really are pretty. Hope you agree.

Tulips as a cut flower, I have never gone for. They always seem to fall over whatever I do. In tubs under the window, however, our tulips bloomed last year and we stored away the bulbs hoping we would have them still this year. Here they are again looking as bonny as ever, in my opinion.

In earlier posts I mentioned our garden walls hollowed out so that pots can be stood in them. For the Spring we have pots of “primroses” in some of my favourite colours. The walls look quite colourful, I think. Do you agree?

All beautiful.Daffodils might be common but I reckon they are a joy, like little bits of sunshine. I picked up a tip to prevent cut tulips falling over - pierce the stem right through just under the flower head with a coarse needle - seems to work quite well. I wouldn't cut my own but in case anybody should be kind enough to give you a bunch...
