A fine morning so we were off to the garden. The brassicas we put in on Friday looked very happy no sign of either bird or snail damage. Hooray!!

OH planted the climbing beans which were threatening to climb to the roof of the polytunnel. I planted 2 pepper and 4 aubergine plants at the back of the lettuces and watered them in well. Fed and watered the courgette. Planted 12 dwarf french bean seeds, once they are big enough they will go in front of the climbing beans. The climbing beans have fleece over them for a couple of weeks………just in case there is a frost. I have some more cabbage plants that will be ready to go out shortly.I have put them in a sheltered place to harden off a bit before I put them in.

Hoed up the strawberries and put straw underneath them to keep the flowers off the soil, fingers crossed we do not get a frost, as long as it stays as it is we may get our first picking at the end of the month. We put slug pellets down and a net over the top to a) stop the snails, b) stop the birds knicking the fruit and c) stop the straw blowing all over the place. Whilst we were doing the netting it started to rain and in a few minutes it was chucking it down, we both got rather wet. The jasmine still smells glorious, there is some new growth so I am hoping to get some cuttings off it.

One of the beds we marked out is now under weed suppressent, its a strip we do not think will get planted this season.
