Re, The field of dreams.

I was horrified to hear that some vandals drove a tractor on to the Field of Dreams and caused a great deal of serious damage. It is suspected that the perpetrators were youths who had been seen locally prior to the incident. It makes one despair, doesn’t it? However i really hope the owners will be able to repair the damage as I, and I am sure many other people were planning to visit the site in the Spring. Sorry this is not a happy blog, will try harder next time.

Och,B, I'm sad to hear that, I wonder how those thugs would feel if someone drove a tractor through their wide screen tv, or over their x-box. However, they have picked the right time of year to do it, the owners can re-sow after they have levelled off the site, however, its more work for the poor owners that shouldn't have needed to be done. I wonder how much damage there was?

Well Libet, apparantly there was considerable damage including severe damage to some trees but probably not beyond repair. Sad that some people cannot see something beautiful without feeling the need to destroy it, but fortunately they are in the minority. If you wish to read the article by the Daily Mail you can access it on Google. All the Best.......

You made me laugh Libet the way you prioritize young peoples most valuable assets. You look very young to me but definitely your television would not be a 50 inches wide to watch games and football. With regard to myself I was born old. If everybody was like me the world would be a very boring place. This is what my daughters say to me every day.
You see they have extra energy and waste it doing stupid unsociable things. Why don't they give some to me in order to finish my painting.

So sad what life has become now, I could write a blog of the reason things like this happen, a few, when we were children we had spare land to play on build dens, climb trees, go courting, etc now all the land has been sold off to build houses also offices which lay empty, even school fields local councils sell off, no youth clubs like years ago, now parents are brain washed by the media and goverment to cage our children in fear of being attacked or perverts, all because there is nt enough police to deal with them, we were not spoilt with games tvs etc, to substitute freedom, which our children no longer have like we had, its like encaging chickens in one pen they get bored frustated so hit out or peck one another, we were educated to occupy our minds, our educations system is a disgrace, where are children to go, to express them selves and release their agression, no jobs for them to go into so they feel let down by society fearing they have no future. Parents are not allowed to punish their children neither are the schools, so what message is this giving out to youths, also the court system just a shambles. So remember next time it comes to vote, don't vote for the main 3 parties as they are as one all out to make them selves richer, when we vote for change we want change not the new goverment carring on with previous goverment rules and laws.

I hope they can salvage some thing and get back on track such a shame trees have been damaged beyond repair.

That's terrible. How sad that some people resort to such vandalism. I hope it will be all right again by next year.

Yes, I agree with you Hywel,Sixpence, and Meadowland, it is really beyond belief what these people do for fun, but as far as I know it hasn't been proven yet that young people were responsible, but as Sixpence pointed out there are so many reasons why many youngsters behave the way they do, but let's hope things start to improve soon. Also I should imagine that the owners will reseed and we can all enjoy the brilliant spectacle next year...

I hope it does too Bredakelly but doubt it to many greedy selfish people now, I am also glad you understood my thoughts, as when we were young, we had places cheap for dancing, which used up that agression also cheap to go to the pictures too now every thing is so expensive even bills now going up even futher, which children will be the ones to pay the price when parents will not be able to afford for them to go to where they normally do for the ones that are nt distructive, so I see this spirralling.

Sadly, I have to agree that there is a lot of greed out there but really, I do think it was always so and somehow everything trundles along regardless. Also, happily, there are many good folk too and I know many young people and they are wonderful, so don't despair, it will get better, I'm sure. All the best.
