Strawberry fields forever...

Hello all, I just joined and it’s great to see such a beautiful site with everyone’s pictures…I live in Texas so it’s already Spring, and I got it into my head to plant strawberry seeds and see if I could actually grow a strawberry plant from them (I don’t expect them all to survive)…to my surprise I have 6 tiny plants growing in a mini-pot on my window sill! I’m trying to keep my (container) garden organic, so we’ll see how it goes once the plants are ready to be planted outside, and all sorts of insects are able to get at them…but I have high hopes!

It is so nice to grow something that you can eat as well as enjoy with your eyes.
Strawberries are great..my neighbour planted raspberries near the fence and now I have raspberries too.
I use wild strawberry as a ground cover..they send out stolons and colonize around every other plant...they are low to the ground, form a mat, don't need a lot of water and the birds just love them... congratulations on doing it the hard way...(from seed) most people just order in the bare root crowns. mulch them with straw and watch them go!...Cheers!

Welcome Raquel and it certainly sounds like GOY is the place for you! Let us know how the strawbs go, it sounds fascinating especially since I'm a non fruit/veg grower. Good luck
