A safe Merry Christmas!

~ Merry Christmas to everyone and to all those, like us who will be out and about visiting relatives~ please take extra care if you have icy conditions~ and make sure you have enough petrol as lots of garages are closed on Christmas day!
I was reading on the net this morning about some lady who was found frozen outside her house because she had locked herself out and wasn’t found for seven hours but is fortunately coming round in hospital~ wasn’t there anyone she could go to or ring?
Anyway in the light of that here is some advice for travellers
AA advice

  1. Check local weather and traffic conditions before setting off, and if conditions are particularly bad, don’t travel
  2. Drive only as fast as conditions allow, and remember that stopping distances are ten times longer in ice and snow
  3. Gentle manoeuvres are the key to safe driving in heavy snow. Use all the car’s controls – accelerator, brakes, clutch and steering – as gently and progressively as possible
  4. Wear comfortable, dry shoes: cumbersome, snow-covered boots will slip on the pedals
  5. Carry an ice-scraper, de-icer, food, hot flask, blanket, warning triangle, and a fully charged mobile in the car
  6. Clear snow from the roof as well as from windows. Snow piled up on the roof can fall onto the windscreen obscuring your view and can also be a hazard to other road users. You could be fined and receive three penalty points if the police consider your car a danger to other road users
  7. Keep to main roads as they are more likely to be gritted and will be patrolled by police
~ and most of all have a safe and happy Christmas !

Thank you for the advice Arlene.
It's strange we have no snow at all here, but 6 miles away the place is white. What a difference a few miles can make.

Merry Christmas :o))

~thanks everyone and the same to you!~It is so sad to lose a loved one at this time of year as you will always be reminded at a time when everyone else is with their family and celebrating~especially sad the ladies who had been to see the lights switched on and the man who fell and banged his head Christmas shopping with his little daughter!
