I am celebrating the first day this year I need to wear shorts to work outside. I was out getting ready to make mulch this afternoon, but it was just too warm.
Lots of plants and bulbs are getting ready for summer, like the pod sibling to "Star of Portugal’, BTS#1. ’Star of Portugal is sculpted, and its sibling rarely show that trait. So guess which got registered in 2019.

The Pod Parent to this is also open. I had to list it as ‘Unknown’ when doing the registration because although I know which one was the pod parent (how could you not know which plant you harvested the seeds from) I had lost the record of its parentage, so it has the garden name of BSA#7 (based on its original location).

There is a pink that has started to flower, Dianthus ‘Rainbow Loveliness’. It is an example of extreme frills.

Also starting to flower is a bulb native to South America, Cypella herbertii.

The bulb that is doing particularly well in my garden is Ixia paniculata. While not as spectacular as Ixia viridiflora,
it has multiplied like crazy. Being a winter growing type, it disappears for the summer, so it doesn’t distract from the daylilies it grows among.
