TEAMWORK

Our gardens needed winter work ~

the trees and leaves were blowing.

We’d trained with dumb-bells ‘clean and jerk’

so now we could get going

……………………………………………………..

We’d checked the lawns. We’d clarified

which parts required some raking.

We dug, we swept, we scarified.

We worked till we were aching !

……………………………………………………..

The afternoon was crisp and dry

but daylight hours were dimming

So … mower cutters set up high,

we gave the grass a trimming.

……………………………………………………..

The leaves descended, red and gold.

Our buckets came in handy.

And, just in case we felt the cold,

Saint Bernard brought us brandy.

……………………………………………………..

The sun is setting in the sky.

The forecast ~ snow and rain.

So, cheerio ~ we’ll say goodbye ~

Until we meet again.

TEAM TERRA does it again :))
I'll tell you this Terra - they certainly would be in need of a 'wee dram' if they were up here - it's brass monkeys up here!!!!!
Your blog reminded me that my lawn really needs another cut - but I'd rather wait just in case the snow comes!
I rather like that heuchera/fern area - it all looks really healthy.
Is that a new sedum - I think I bought a similar one a few weeks ago - is it Autumn Charm?

27 Oct, 2012

Thanks, Angie ..
Conker mowed the lawns rather high, so I'll probably mow them again next week. ;o)
Truffle looks a bit tipsy after his wee dram.. Lol.
I'm pleased with the heuchera/fern area. In the summer it is Gromit's Gravel Garden.
The sedum is Frosty Morn. It doesn't spread very quickly, but has lovely variegated leaves and pretty pink flowers :o)

29 Oct, 2012

Yes, good thinking! :)

29 Oct, 2012

:o)))

29 Oct, 2012

I could have done with their help today Terra, I had long grass and lots of leaves to clear, my helpers are not good at those tasks, with their big feet they make muddy patches, lol.
Smashing blog and pics Terra, I`ve just noticed how much taller Truffle is than Conker...LOL...

29 Oct, 2012

Hi Sue ... Thanks ..
Yes, my dogs being different shapes and heights, means that some items of gardening equipment are better size for one and some for the other! You can see that Truffle has quite a long spade for his digging... ;o) Lol.

29 Oct, 2012

What a grand job Conker and Truffles have done I d be so proud of them both love the variety of different colours with the heuchera

30 Oct, 2012

Lovely heartwarming blog Terra, good to see Truffle take his duties seriously. Is he on a full wage now he's all grown up and respobsible? I'm very behind with the garden this year and Rosie and Meg just lack the skills of your boys:-)

30 Oct, 2012

Thank you Sixpence and Bornagain...
The colours of the heuchera leaves are fascinating, aren't they.
Yes, Truffle is getting more adept with his garden tools ;o)
I'm sure Rosie and Meg would like to have their own toy lawn-mowers ! :o)

30 Oct, 2012

Lovely blog , my cat oversees my gardening but alas he is not hands on.

30 Oct, 2012

I have to say..seeing all the work your crew is doing about wore me out! I have seen many leaves falling here in Newport News, VA..USA as Hurricane Sandy just came over and caused me to have to change my flight plans back to Wales! Now I am flying out with the leaves on Nov.1 This Friday...instead of today...I can still hear the wind in the treetops outside my window this morning..I would love to be able to see such a crew here .. They are both looking so wonderful Terra...much love and pets and scritches to your fur crew...and to you! :o) ~Cat

30 Oct, 2012

Hi Denise ..
Thank you .. :o)
Sounds like, in your garden, your cat does a lot of watching and observing ... a very important supervisory feline rôle ;o)

30 Oct, 2012

He certainly thinks so TT.

30 Oct, 2012

Lol. Drc...

Hi Catfinch ...
Nice to hear from you.
I was wondering whether Hurricane Sandy would cause you to change your flight plans. I hope you have a peaceful trip to Wales.

I have a good friend in Maryland, so I've been watching the storm paths closely to see which way Sandy was heading once she reached land ...

Stay safe. Thinking of everyone affected by Sandy.

Thanks for your lovely comments and sending hugs from all of us. xxx

30 Oct, 2012

Maryland is a very short way to the north of where I am..I was just up there about 3 weeks ago to go to the Greyhounds Reach the Beach festival at Dewey Beach Delaware...I have been watching the news about the area..Sandy's landfall was there and the Wild Ponies on Chincoteague Island close to there have been on my mind as well.....We have been lucky to keep our power here..Hope they have done OK up there..things are much calmer this morning.

30 Oct, 2012

Fingers crossed for the people, pets and wildlife ...

30 Oct, 2012

Another great blog of your helpers "helping" you to clean up the garden! It's great to see how well they pose for their photos! (Can you do the same for grandkids? Ours won't stay still long enough for a digital photo!)

I loved that Sedum at the end of your blog! Would be great for my balcony by the sound of it!

The roses against such a lovely blue sky really stand out, they're really lovely!

30 Oct, 2012

Hi Balcony ... Thanks.
Sounds like you have very lively grandchildren ;o)

1 Nov, 2012

Ps What is the name of the lovely Sedum in the last pic please TT?

1 Nov, 2012

Hi Annie. Thank you :o) xxx

The sedum is Frosty Morn .. my favourite ...
It has pretty pale pink flowers and variegated leaves.

It doesn't grow very fast, but I managed to send a small piece to Karen this week, with root and a flower attached ! (I hope it survived !)

Would you like a piece ? Next year perhaps ?

1 Nov, 2012

Oh yes please :o))

1 Nov, 2012

:o))) You might change your mind if we hear that Karen's piece arrived in a sad state .. Lol. ;o)
