Christmas Day

We went to stay for a couple of nights at my husband’s sister & brother in laws in Dorset, just the 4 pf us, but some other guests arrived on Christmas day….
…that is
….a couple of Pheasants, actually 2 males that come regularly to eat from a bowl of seed put in the garden. They dont seem to like wet seed, so left fairly soon…

…to be replaced by several grey squirrels.

The other 2 had chased off the little birds, Goldfinches, Sparrows, Blue and Great Tits from the bird feed.

They then went to the ground to pick up the fallen grain, whilst the third kept watch from the feeder in the Plum tree.

We had an enjoyable lunch inside, where we remained all day as it was dull, wet and miserable outside.
Had a long muddy walk on Boxing day though.
Happy Christmas.

I'm glad you had some entertainment on Christmas Day, it was so wet wasn't it, and the tv is rubbish.
A friend of mine also has trouble with squirrels stealing the bird food, they are so cheeky ... she tries to chase them away but they just stare back at her :D

It must have been refreshing to have a walk on Boxing day, it's always nice to have fresh air :)

Hope you had a good day too, Hywel , agree about the tv being rubbish. Ive just noticed there is a Robin in the pic with the squirrel at the feeding bowl, it obviously knows the pecking order.

Yes thank you, I enjoyed my day sorting out the new room I've had built haha :D
(I'm afraid Christmas doesn't really mean much to me)

Poor Robin, he has to wait his turn :(

Pleased you enjoyed Christmas away with family, Siris. The squirrels are so highly intelligent aren't they? Little monkeys!
Nice to see them as I don't get them coming into my garden, I think it must be too enclosed.
Well the weekend soon went, and this afternoon felt like spring had sprung!

What a lovely visit you had, Sue! Lots of interesting going on. Much better and entertainment than tv! I must agree. A hive of activity too! Pleased you enjoyed your Christmas break 😊

I am pleased you had a lovely visit with your family Siris!
Those cheeky squirrels! But I bet it was fun watching them, although I did feel sorry for the other little birds who needed to feed!
Happy New Year to you!
