As a few of you know OH and I went for one of our twice yearly visits to Harrogate Flower Show last week, we had a great time and I came back with lots of lovely plants we also bought a couple of statues for the garden which we picked up from Newark today :-)
Meet Henry the heron and Stanley the stag, sad I know that I’ve given them names lol.
We hope Henry might deter the real heron from the pond, fingers crossed.

Every year for the past four or five years we’ve looked at this stall really love their statues made, from salvage, by a very talented man in his spare time,I wouldn’t know where to start!!, last year we nearly bought a giraffe but glad we waited as I think Stanley looks much better suited to the wood :-), just fetched him in for the night till Rob either welds or cements him in the ground hate for him to get stolen!!!
We got some very funny looks today driving along the motorway with a stag in a trailer :-)

Absolutely super statues, but my Sis in law calls here aga 'Stanley'. What would you have called the giraffe? Patch maybe.

I love them,Simbad..they are so life like..They are so right for your pond and woodland areas..We haven't been to the Harrogate show for a few years now..we did wonder about going last weekend..but we didn't make it..Did you see Joe Maidens veg display in one of the indoor marquees..Radio Leeds gardening presenter.?.He won a lovely silver trophy..

Brilliant my favourite animal Stanley, I had to giggle that was my dads name.

I love the statues!
They both look as though they are leaning over to look at something!

Looks like someone has been spoilt. Super, love them, especially Stan, looking so natural in your woodland.

There's only one giraffe on GOY - Maureen. Mind you, if it had been a male it would have been named Geoffrey. The two names were our tour leaders when I visited South Africa.

How is Maureen?

She's a bit of a prima donna but she's managed to keep most of the plants in the foliage garden alive. Barney junior is enthusiatically letting everything grow - including the weeds.

Thanks Dad glad you like them, there certainly are, Robs already talking of getting a female made so we have a pair!!
Thanks Siris lol wonder if Stanley has any bits of arga in him know the herons beak are old scissors, think as Andrew said the Giraffe would have to be a Geoffrey.
Thanks Bloomer have to admit I didn't look in the veg pavilion, so much to see a days not long enough, did spend a while in the flower one though some amazing displays, very clever people .
Glad you like them 3d :-)
Didn't notice that Paul lol probably looked at each other now you mention it the ponds just up a hill near the wood.
Thanks Dawn, I bet your John could make one for your wood ;-), yes very spoilt :-)
I've just had a look at Maureen Andrew she's great :-)

Thanks Stroller:-) it is my favourite place at the moment, trouble is the weeds are growing everywhere else lol.

It is really sad that people steal anything that isn't cemented down. I would like to have something like that, but I lost a Geranium the other day to someone that thought they needed it more. I try planting monocarpic types of plants so they get nothing for their efforts.

look fab

very clever what some people can do ....

They are amazing - bet you're glad you finally took the plunge. And that is a really classy heron - never seen one as good as that before.

It is really sad Wylie that we can't put what we like in our own gardens and our first thought has to be how can we make it theft proof!!, the wood is quite near the allotments which seems to be a magnet for thieves they even have to remove all the taps in the winter after having every one stolen not once but twice!!!, good idea with the plants :-)
Thanks Gg yes wish I was that talented :-)
Thanks Stera yes we are and I have to go and look at them several times a day lol, I'm not one for a lot of garden ornaments but these I love :-)

I fell in love with your Henry when I saw him and then I saw Stanley - absolutely fantastic and just the right setting for both of them.

Aaaaaw thanks Gee, the fish have all disappeared to the bottom of the pond either Henry's not doing his job or the fish think he's real lol.

What fantastic beasts, beautiful creatures and the fact that they are made from recycled scrap metal makes me like them even more. Thanks for putting these pics on here, I found them on the internet and will def get one when my garden is a bit more finished.
