. . . in my garden on 28th June. Some of these pics are not very good (as usual!) but I thought it was time to give you a taste of what I’ve been enjoying.

Phlox Blue Paradise

Malva moschata alba

Malva with Salvia Cerro Posti

White Verbena with blue Scaveola

Dish with white fuchsia surrounded by Verbena Sissinghurst pink and Calabrachoa magenta

Strawberries and Geraniums

Penstemon Frederich Hahn

Imperata (japanese blood grass) and Hakonechloa macra

Phlox David

Geranium Patricia (I think)

I hope you’re all enjoying your gardens today. It would have been our town’s Open Gardens today, but we have the chance to see many of them ‘virtually’ for which we’re very grateful.

It's a very pretty selection of flowers you have there. "David" is my favourite phlox, it's so willing to flower. I gave up on "Blue Paradise", I think it didn't like being dryish. That white mallow is lovely. Does it get very tall?

Thanks Julia ... the Penstemon is about 2’ 6” but would be taller if I hadn’t Chelsea-chopped it.

Thank you Anget ... yes, I love the white mallow - it’s about 3’ and some of the clumps are flopping. It makes masses of seed so pops up everywhere 🙂.

Smashing pics Sheila. How do you prevent your Penstemon from becoming woody?

Quite a fabulous collection Sheila. What a walk that must have been.

Your garden is looking really colourful.
Pleased to see white Mallow in a real garden, as I've got one to put in mine, knew it was going to be tall as I've a purple one which exceeds 4ft.

Your garden is so much further on than mine, Sheila. It looks so colourful.

Some lovely flowers there Sheila. The Penstemon is magnificent and I loved the white Malva too. Very pretty, all it!

Thanks Waddy - I don’t know that I do! This is only their second year ...

Thank you Paul, Siris, Linda and Sue 🙂.

Nice photos Sheila, I hope you've had better weather than us today.
Enjoy the virtual open gardens :)

Thanks Hywel. Crazy day with strong winds, occasional sunshine and very brief showers.

Yes, the virtual open gardens were interesting to see 🙂.

Lovely to see your flowers Sheila, I have that mallow, very pretty and the wind is playing havoc with it here also, its popping up everywhere, in fact its in danger of taking over so gong to have to be brutal ....Loving the phlox and the penstemon is a beauty......

I saw this today Sheila, and it reminds me so much of your garden! Thought you’d like to see it. https://www.shootgardening.co.uk/article/contemporary-cottage-garden-in-buckinghamshire

Lovely pics, Sheila! I enjoyed looking at your pretty flowers, such vivid, summer colour! I agree your penstemon is amazing, so full of flower and colour! Love the brick trough/bed area with the strawberries and geraniums - very effective. Your ornamental grades are looking good too! Colourful.

Thanks so much Lincs.

Karen - thank you - I will have a look tomorrow (can’t open links on my iPad - probably just my lack of ability!). I was a member of Shoot a few years ago.

Kate ... you’re very generous, thank you. I love the little raised bed too: fun to have a mini place to play with 🙂.

Had a difficult day today, health wise, but all of your Likes and Comments have cheered me up. Thank you Goyers for making me feel so much better 🙂🙂.

Your garden is looking really lovely Sheila, some wonderful plants there, tallish, like mine and this blustery wind does them no favours! So pretty, like Kate I do like your mini strawberry bed. One of my all time faves, the Hakonechloa macra, I'm looking at mine as I type..:))

I do hope you have a better day today Sheila. I too have had a couple of weeks of an old war wound playing up, but Lottie is 10 today, so walks and frisbee playing between the showers are on the cards and a little treat later..:))
take care. X

Such lovely photos here. I love phlox and the first one you added here is just gorgeous. Your garden must be a haven of colour and it looks very pretty indeed.
Shame about the winds we are getting at the moment though!

Aw Janey - thank you so much. Glad you have Hakonechloa macra too!

I'm sorry you've been having a rough time, but great to hear you feeling positive. Have a good day :) x

Thanks very much Chris ... yes, strangely cool today, and last week we were seeking the shade!

Dear Karen, I am flattered! Thank you so much for the link - and what a gorgeous garden, with several similar shapes to mine (love those curves!) but even more imaginative with more space. Simply delightful. Sending you a PM . . .

Sheila there is nothing wrong with the photos; your garden is gorgeous. Well thought out planting. Your phlox are so much further on than mine; they are just starting to hint at bud formation.

Thanks Eileen, you’re very kind. Some of my Phlox are also only in bud, but it’s good to have succession 🙂.

Sheila, please stop apologizing for your photos as they are lovely, no need to worry about them at all! I love just about everything you have shown ... :o)

Sorry Sheila!!!predictive texting! I meant grasses, not grades...😖

Oh Shirley you are a treasure. I just find that my photos are hit and miss because I can’t see properly what I’m aiming at! Some I get lucky with, others not so much, but I appreciate your comment - thanks 🙂.

Kate, I guessed you must have meant grasses, no worries ... 🙂.

Sheila, carry on taking photos please ... :o)

2 Jul, 2020

OK Shirley - just for you :)
