Lancaster Bomber!

I was sat in the garden this afternoon after doing a bit of tidying up i thought i’d earned a rest, when all of a sudden i heard a low rumbling, (thought i was hungry for a minute LOL) it got louder and louder and then just over my head was a Lancaster bomber!! I could see the pilot, could have given him a cuppa he was so close!! Of course i didn’t have my camera with me, so i ran up the garden (no mean feat for me) to get it bumped into hubby coming out the door with his camera, he went to the front of the house i went to the back, it was a sight to behold and the noise!!

It was Gala day in Scunthorpe, every year (for donkeys years) the Steelworks have held a Gala day in June, in the morning there are races and football matches for the workers children (they win good prizes too) then in the afternoon its open to all with stalls and sideshows a fair and a main arena where there are the usual things like police motorbike riders display, Falconry,
sheepdog trials etc., a good show and its very popular. There is usually a fly past of some sort one year was parachutists ‘dropping’ in literally! Last year (think it was last year) we had spitfires fly over, they were noisy too!!
The bomber went round once and then banked over the town to turn to come round again,

Well that made the afternoon exciting!! Hope you enjoy the photos.

You wouldn't like the deafening noise they make here. It makes my head pound.

Wow! How did you manage to shoot such a great picture from above it? Do you live in a high tower and the plane passed low beneath? I remember these planes very well and together with Spitfires they were among my favourites during the War. I can't remember the name of one with a double fuselage so must do a search. We used to wave to the pilots and they literally skimmed the chimney pots. Not so noisy as those dreadful fighters that come and go in a flash leaving one deafened and turned to jelly! Or is that just an 'age' thing?
I must read about you to find out if you like sewing.
