at last i woke up to some sunshine, lept out of bed,, well hobbled haha not good when i wake up, a bit stiff with the joints but once im up and had my brew im ready to go.
baz is working this weekend so time for me and the garden but first thing i saw this morning was feathers all over my lounge carpet,,, oh nooo i though looking carefully around me as i walked down the stairs, couldnt see anything so called baz and he came down, caspers had a bird i said but cant see it,, baz says “he`s probably eaten it” MEN! anyway lifted the sofa and there it was poor sparrow, but i was to late this time, baz took it away as i was to upset then i had to hoover the feathers up crying as i went,
so not a good start and also had to rescue a baby mouse late last night to grrr
anyway went shopping quickly as not to miss the sun and came back with 4 cyclamen from morrisons for £4 great bargain, they would look lovely round the rowan tree with gazzania i thought,
so got home and planted then inbetween gazzania and i think they look lovely

then went round dead heading trying to keep everything flowering for august bank hols as its joe`s 18th and want it all to look good for the family, so praying it still is colourfull then, then noticed the black hollyhock is getting more flowers, i love it so much

saw lots of tiny frogs but couldnt get a pic as they were so quick and casper was about to, everything is looking so colourfull and i just enjoy seeing it all and feel so pleased with myself and how its turned out in such a short time, wish our gardens looked like this all year, wouldnt that be great,so took a few pics of pond area, its filled out so much

the rowan tree looking lovely with plants around it to

also i found the old fashioned looking water pump in shed which i had mentioned to amy or dotty that i had, baz wants to put it near pond and have the water coming from it down into pond so will let him try but if i dont like it , its coming out again lol, but for now iv stuck it in the barrel with my plants for show, thought i had a pic but cant find that oops lol, so here`s a few flowery pics

so ive enjoyed my day on my own with peace and quiet, baz will be hoem soon so going to look like ive been busy hahah, hope you all had a good day to ;o)) x

Sad to hear about the Sparrow, I guess you've got a cat-flap for Casper ? If so, could you close it at night and leave a litter-tray for him ? Love that black Hollyhock too, Sandra, really dramatic. Beautiful garden, all your hard work has paid off, bet you didn't sit and admire it though !

Birdies - or dead onesare always a problem for me too. i would loveto have a bird table/boxes etc but that would be unfair on them and easy pickings for the cats - I hope they will scare away herons thou. Your garden is looking fab, glad you had a 'happy gardening day'.

Looks lke you had a wonderful day San! We didn't do any gardening yesterday, but we went to visit my SIL. She has this amazing new house, huge it is, like a show home, never even a magazine on a coffee table...you know the kind of thing....(snigger). I do love her...but that's not healthy is it? Anyway, she has this massive garden...just had a 'designer' come in and a landscape architect and had the whole lot done over like something out of the magazine that's never on the coffee table!! It really does look absolutely beautiful and i felt quite jealous for a bit. Then I remembered all my friends on GOY and how much we love to grow stuff, and experiment and make our own ideas come to life....and looking at your photos just reminded me how much I love being my own gardener and doing it my way!! Lovely San, well done, and thanks! you've restored my sanity!

2 Aug, 2010

aww thanx karen and know what you mean, i love to see houses and gardens looking like magazine pics but in reality its more enjoyable the way we have ours and being out there making it happen ourselfs gives us so much more pleasure, anyway you have a beautifull garden and much better cause you made it happen ;o)))

3 Aug, 2010

4 Aug, 2010

We desparately need rain over here, it is so dry at the moment. My OH dug a 3ft hole the other day, and it was dust dry even at the bottom of it, which is a real rarity in our garden. What little rain we are getting is not enough to make any difference! Please send some our way San! :~((((

4 Aug, 2010

wish i could send you some flori, can you believe we still have a hosepipe ban here, was on news today, so good job we have rain to water gardens isnt it ;o(
your poor hubby having to dig that flori, can i ask why lol

4 Aug, 2010

Believe it or not he was digging it to put a large plastic open based tub into, as this is to house two Rhododendrons, and they have to be in acid soil, and my soil neutral to alkaline over here. (This was his idea not mine I hasten to add!) He has filled it with ericaceous soil, and I'm just hoping it will work as they will be living in their own enviroment better suited for their needs.....I hope! Will keep you updated if it works~if it doesn't, he may well be joining them in his 3 ft hole! Tee hee hee :~))

4 Aug, 2010

lol flori im sure it will work ive heard of members doing something similar before, fingers crossed for hubby lol ;o))
