Lucky you. We have had enough to lay the dust and that is about it. The water butts are still mostly only half full and the new pond really needs a good few days of steady rain. The soil is damp for about an inch, but below that it is dust.

Hallo Scotcat, we havn´t had any rain here now for over 6 weeks, they have forecasted it since last week but nothing so far, but the forecast does say rain for tomorrow...once again !, the garden is very very dry, my 2 1000 litre water tanks are almost empty, I´m only watering the veg plants at the moment, as I have only trimmed the lawns they are still looking nice and green. Normaly we live in a wet area as the town we live in is in the bottom of a valley, bu I suppose that once it does start raining it won´t stop until christmas..hihi.

Oh come on now, Scotkat, your pulling my leg, surely. Here in Moray we have probably had more rain than many other GoYers but still not enough. The wind is undoing all the good work that the rain does.

I'm a wee bit further south here in Edinburgh and although I agree we could do with a bit more of the wet stuff....we need to be careful what we wish for :-))))

Given where Bulba and I live it has been an extremely dry spring and, as he says, the strong winds are drying everything up. If it rains for more than half an hour we get excited! Mind you we had a hail storm on Wednesday which was not appreciated!

Just come in for a cuppa 'cos it was raining. The rain lasted from the area I was working in until I reached the house, say 100 metres? Not enough to even wet the washing!

And we've had not a drop here in West London since thunderstorm 3 weekends ago - and prior to that, nothing for 2 months...

13 May, 2011

We were the same no rain for 2months untill this week and its never stopped untill this evening sunshine.

13 May, 2011

I'm sorry to say that we'd need rain every day for at least a fortnight to even begin to catch up...

13 May, 2011

Maybe it wont be to long or it arrives your way Bamboo.

We had rain to fill the butts last weekend but just minor showers since, the land is so dry again after all the winds.

13 May, 2011

Hi there DA we were at the stage of nearly filling water butt with the hose then the heavens opened and its never stopped.

13 May, 2011

Who said "The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain?" I'd like to invite whoever it was to our northern mountains and ask "well, what's all this doing here?" We've had VERY heavy rain for the last week, including large hailstones and two horrendous storms - one of which knocked off the electricity to the entire village! It was fixed by early afternoon next day, but that night was the blackest I've ever known! BUT ... the garden's loving it! All the veggies are sprouting, the potatoes are going for world domination, my roses have never been so brilliant and with the rain bringing the snails and slugs out to party every evening I'm rapidly demolishing the species! We're promised sun next week, but I think the Spanish weathermen are closely related to the British weathermen - so who do I believe? ;o)

You've obviously got London's rain then, Nariz - still not a drop here.

14 May, 2011

Rained most of the night and part of the morning with us but we STILL need more - hopefully it will rain again tonight.

There has been heavy dark clouds, windy, looked like it was going to rain, but no rain :((((( it has been like this for weeks..

14 May, 2011

It rained here this afternoon...for about 3 minutes !!!, the sky came over very black and I thought that that was the end to my afternoon in the garden...hurried up to the house so not to get wet and by the time I had got up there it had stopped !!....about 5 minutes later we had blue sky and sunshine again....so much for the much wanted rain !.

14 May, 2011

Ah well maybe tomorrow Rogi...

14 May, 2011

i think ill build a small ark bye the sounds of it lol .

15 May, 2011

You wouldn't have to here in London, Noseypotter, its beginning to resemble the Seregenti plains here, and shortly after the Sahara I imagine. Not a single drop...

15 May, 2011

same here bamboo but its looking grim x or good which ever way you look at it lol .

An update on the rain here...yesterday it drizzled all day...very fine drizzle, so I thought that the soil would be nice and moist, but whenI went down the garden after work in the afternoon I turned some soil over and it was only the first couple of mm´s that were damp, but it has drizzled again all night so maybe it will have got a bit further down, the forecast for the coming weekend are temps upto around 27°C again with a risk of thunderstorms.

17 May, 2011

I like your optimism Rogi - once the soil is as dry as it is, we'd need a fortnight's rain, and good, heavy rain, not a light drizzle, for it to penetrate more than 3 or 4 inches. and on that subject, I'm off to put the sprinkler on - again, trying to keep up with watering in case they put a hosepipe ban on.

17 May, 2011

still looking like rain hereas aposed tp actualy raining but the plants are happy .

17 May, 2011

Hooray, hooray, its raining here in West London - its only been going 15 minutes, and its not heavy, but even so, its raining... be nice if it kept up all evening, but I don't think its going to.
