Hi,
I remember reading somewhere you have to put your plant into the dark for a few days in order to force the leaves to turn red. They also need some sun to do so.

My mother used to do it every year for christmas by placing a black bin liner over her plants. Seem to recall the bags were on for around 6 weeks but I may be wrong about that. The Italians call them 'christmas stars' and they are very popular.
