When is the latest month to pick Rhubarb, given this great summer weather, in the Minlands

Answers

You continue to pick while its still growing strongly and putting out new shoots - never pick all the sticks, always leave some. You'll find the growth slows down and new leaves don't emerge after a while.

Hi Bamboo, Thank you for your reply, thats helpful, but is there not a date,? only a friend told us that we should not pick after the end of June, but our plants are still very strong and still producing new stems.

Well I'm still cropping mine - I'm not leaving all those lovely juicy stems on there to rot during the winter, lol! It depends on the variety as much as anything else, some are late croppers, some earlies - mine wasn't ready for cropping before end of May anyway.

Just checked and here's an extract from my book "a range of varieties will ensure good cropping till end of September..."
