It looks fuchsia type, but cannot find in my (old) books.

Yep, Phygelius rectus 'African Queen', to be precise - commonly known as Cape Fuchsia (its a South African plant), and can be very invasive. Greetings from me from London...

Thanks Teadrinker and Bamboo. The query is from my son, here on holiday, who has just moved into new home in Denham, and has discovered "coloured things" in the garden!
Amazing, at 50, they still need to ask Mum!
