what about yellow tomatoes,grow just the same but a much better taste, cut flowers for home, being a veg man myself I will stand aside on that for the flower growers, I am growing fruit this year ,every thing I have room for if you choose too will have all the advice you can handle on hear,

have you tried sweet corn? That is a good crop. Plant in blocks rather than rows to aid pollination.

Some of the unusual chinese greens perhaps... salsify is an unusual one too. Even odd varieties of potatoes.

i grew some chinese lettuce for the first time this year ,so easy to grow really healthy plants, and delicious in salads,not much care was needed just planted it & it flourished ill try to remember to put pic on tmoz

already got one on in my pics its third from the end pic, and in right hand corner behind barrel i grew it in a high box container.let us know what you decide to try.

This year I tried celeriac. Not vey good. Plants grew well with plenty of leaf
but when I dug the first couple up they were the size of golf balls instead of swede size !!!! Try agian next year !!

Norfolkapple we tried celeriac for the first time this year... ours are bigger than golf ball size but not as big as tennis balls! At our local farmers market yesterday I was chatting with one of the farmers who runs our local organic box scheme. He told me that the seeds need to be started very early i.e. Feb. on a heat pad or heated propagator, pricked out into trays or cells and kept going and then planted out once big enough. We are going to try that route next year. We did sow in a seed tray and kept in greenhouse and potted on but did not use heat. Let me know how you get on.

Thanks Moongrower, I thought it was just me. I got the seedlings going quite well but once planted out the tops came but not a lot underneath.

Ah well... you know the motto 'If at first you don't succeed try, try and try again' :-)
