I was told this a chilie plant can anyone confirm this please.

I don't know the variety, but I would say "it looks like a chilli to me."
Cut a ripe one off the plant and peel a small section of skin back. Rub the exposed flesh with the tip of your little finger, lightly touch the tip of your tongue to the tip of your finger. Wait. Just a quick dab will be sufficient to tell you how hot it will be.

there are ornamental ones so i dont think i would eat these. but it definitely is a chilli and in need of a good watering.
