digging up potatoes

I have planted popatoes in a pot and put them outside to grow on oue fire escape because we live on the 3rd floor. I am not sure just when to dig them up. Please help me.

All our potatoes were harvested a while ago. If the tops have died back then they wont get any bigger so, as B says, tip them out and good luck!

The best way to check them is to put your hand down the side of the pot and feel how big they are.
