Just think of the profit some places must make with the price of the planters they sell .

29 Jan, 2009

Itl be wierd to have new Coins Eileen ? How things have changed over the yrs with money & Weights its very confussing 2 some people dont u think Eileen? :/

What will be will be and I don't think I could get any more confused then I am already!! I still think in pounds and ounces - habits of a lifetime are hard to break.

30 Jan, 2009

I remember when we changed to decimal money. Even my grandfather got used to it eventually. We'll get used to euros just the same.

30 Jan, 2009

exactly Hywel, it didnt take long to get used to euro, its like we always had them, only thing is when we changed over everything went up in price

30 Jan, 2009

I thinks that why They change the Coins ,Weights ect Eileen cos they always seem 2 make things more expensive :( Didnt we lose out when we went Decimal 2 Hywel ?

30 Jan, 2009

I don't think we did really lose out. Things would have gone up anyway whatever money we had. They always will.

30 Jan, 2009

All I can remember is when we went decimal I could do a weeks shopping , have fresh meat every day and still have change from a fiver...now every time I stick my nose inside Tesco;s door it costs me best part of £20. You can bet your life that we will end up with the euro and they will round up prices

30 Jan, 2009

Remember "the pound in your pocket" (Harold Wilson)? Ordinary people usually lose out - or am I too pessimistic?

31 Jan, 2009

I agree - ordinary people always loose out, but not because of a change in currency. Things will always go up no matter what the currency.
If we had stayed with the old money in the 70s things would have gone up just the same. They always will.

fact of life Hywel.
