It was a bit Marguerite....we were travelling to a village higher than this....Prades....the soil and rock there was a deep red colour and the houses and church etc were all dark red......

Janey, I think I will pinch this rock. Anything that is home to buzzards is meant for me.

Considering what I just wrote on your suspected age might have me doing a
Sisyphus People remember him as the dude forever condemed to roll a rock up a hill.

He was so much more!. He was notorious as the most cunning knave on earth. Even in Hades, he outricked everyone.Even the beautiful Persephone.
He forgot his pledge and tried to live a life of dissipation. Hades finally caught up to him, and you know the end of the story.

I believe the gopher may just have found a new avatar! Thank you Janey.
Not many people have made such a profound affect on me.

My suspected age????? Wheres this then Skyline....who's had a profound effect on you.....Sisyphus........I haven't heard of him or Persephone..I gather they must be of Greek legend??.....not Native American Indian?

I would have thought with your deep and active thoughts you would have been a follower of the American Indian beliefs.

Janey, yes I am as much of a follower of First People beliefs as any. They are also as different as are many Christian denominations.

When I was a kid, and I mean young ... I was given an adult library card by the astounded librarians. I would come bicycling home with a basket of books. I still do. I am a speed-reader, as well as a speed typer... hence all the typos.

But in those days I absorbed the Greek, Persian and Hindu pantheon I think you can imagine some of the juicier books I would now check out.

Anyway, I am part Sisyphus ...I just realized it.

Synopsis: Sisyphus for Dummies.

He died and went into Hades. He lied to Pluto about his wretched wife. No proper burial, no lamenting. He wanted to go up there to punish her. He would then return to the underworld.

Guess what! He lied and cavorted mightily with his wife. Pluto was ticked off and sent Mercury to haul his sorry ass back.

This trickster then did one on Mercury. He said he did not think he had to die, since so many others had not. WHAT? And so Sisyphus showed him the special room where he had stashed, those people who never had died. It was an empty room --he locked Mercury in.

Now things got weird. Nobody died, and everyone just got feebler and more wretched. Some other God finally rescued Mercury and a very ticked off God then hauled poor Sisyphus back to Pluto. The two of them sentenced him to endless drudgery, to prove the Don't mess with the Gods thing.

Sisyphus stopped believing in the Gods. Why could they be so cruel and vengeful? This went on for ages. Somewhere, somehow he saw the light and remembered that a Creator had sparked his soul.
With that realization, he found himself back with his love in all that fragrant meadow, babbling brook stuff. It is said that his love of life now imbues all living things.

I like Sisyphus. You might check out this site. Don't believe the slander.

Camus also wrote about him. My daughter liked Camus, I can't stand him.
Kaffka also got him wrong. He was a bachelor not!

sisypheanly yours

Dear Leo and of the "Tiger" You gave yourself away. I am of the "Tiger" myself. I think I posted something

It was under my sign picture? How ignoble.

My post on the Chinese horoscope deserves a much better planting. My appologies.

The nit was. Example.Either Janey is a duffer like me and was born in 1950, or as I would guess 1962 or 1974. She seems too wise and mature to have been a fire tiger born in 1986 -- this would be the ultimate tiger sign.

I am a metal tiger, born in 1950 "THE METAL TIGER 195O AND 2010

Janey is either a very mature 1986 geboren soul or a well maintained 1974 speciman. If she is the 1986 model, then her scat way outweighs mine.

I think 2010 will bring the next "metal" tiger rebirth. I will have to check that out.
