Gorgeous.

Skippy I took another shot with the buds stretching off to the left and the composition was really nice but the lighting wasn' t great. The buds are atractive too. The flower spike on the Phalaenopsis is so graceful how it arches over :)
Thank you Gilli :)

How many have you got? I think we have another orchid nut here, my husband has forbidden me to buy any more. :-(

Oh yes, Spritz I am a nut....in more ways than one. Orchids are my favorite plant. I'm taking the 5th on how many I have...to tell you the truth I really don't know. Someone asked me that a while back on here and I counted them, but I've forgotten the final count...plus I've aquired some more since then ;~) Jeff gives me hard time for the amount of plants that I have, yet he brings them home for me:) How many orchids do you have Spritz? If I had a greenhouse, I'd have way more!!! Which kind of orchids do you grow? I've got some Cattleya's that won't bloom for me.

Cymbidiums (four), Phalaenopsis (lots) and one Dendrobium. I went for these as I can provide the right conditions - I know that some of the others need rather specialised places, like different humidity etc. I'd like other species that I've seen at Orchid Shows (open-mouthed!) but no chance.

Yes, a special greenhouse would be the answer - but once again - no chance!

You are wise to have not been seduced by the orchids w/ special needs, Spritz. Myself on the other hand, sometimes can't resist their charms and have been disappointed when they start to perish. I had a lovely little Masdevallia that was doing great until it got too hot here and it croaked! I've got a couple of Miltonias as gifts and they're not doing so hot. I've got several Cattleyas that keep growing and growing, but no flowers...which is frustrating! I have several Phalaenopsis, standards and minis and they are the easiest by far and most rewarding. The Cymbidiums are another winner, living outside all year long practically neglected, doing great. I've got some Oncidiums that are doing okay and do flower for me. So far my luck wtih The Zygopetalums has been good. I have a couple Odontoglossum and haven't had the best luck getting them to rebloom. I am awful about remembering to fertilize and that could be the reason for no blooms on some of my plants. I'v e got the one Dendrobium and it's doing well. NIce chatting about orchids w/ you :)

What a shame the others don't flower! I often get sidetracked by beautiful orchids at GCs, then I remember that I can't give them the high humidity they need, so I resist them - with great difficulty! And, of course, the HUGE prices they want for some of them help my resolve.
