Yes, Jacque, I think it is. It seems to happen spontaneously when they cross-pollinate.

I collected some Double Purple Aquilegia Seeds from a Friends Garden & their now small seedlings what do u think the chances are of some of those being Doubleed Flowers Wagger?

Beautiful one! Do you find any difference in this aguilegia's flowering period? I have a 'double' that bloomed only during spring.

Jacque, I would say the chances are very high - these originated in crosses of singles (natural crosses - aquilegias are very promiscuous)

Greenthumb, yes I would say their flowering period is shorter.
