Ipe Tree - Tabebuia impetiginosa (Tabebuia impetiginosa)

These are trees that bloom in late January to early March thought out San Diego, CA. They are native to tropical South America.

Wow! I can't recall ever seeing a large tree with so much flowering color. Beautiful!

These four trees are about 40 feet tall with a spread of around 30 feet or so.
They actually can get larger than this, up to 60 feet or more in a real tropical climate.

These trees were introduced into California to the Los Angeles Arboretum in the early sixties from what I've read...and now they are common. I hear they are very easy to grow from cuttings.

Just love the colour of these and when planted together like this, they really make an impact!
