Patience is a Virtue

Patience is a Virtue

19/08/12 My garden. This male Sparrowhawk could hear the Blue Tits in the bush . . so he waited . . but they weren't breaking cover. Eventually he left empty-handed to try his luck elsewhere.

Thank you Mossy. I couldn't believe my luck when he stayed there long enough for me to go and get my camera, slowly open the window and get some shots!

Great photo! I was sure one landed on my roof the other day but my friend who was visiting at the time thought it was just a pigeon, so maybe I was getting carried away lol ;o)

From the downy feathers I could assume that he's a juvenile?...perched on one foot...was he trying to make the little birds think he was roosting? Really a great shot...

Must have been hungry to linger so long. If young he could lack experience in concealing himself for a planned attack.

what a lovely shot Muddy, he likes his feet in the sun!
looks as if he hasnt got a clue what to do next, probably trying to remember the correct technique for chasing bluetits out of a bush, 'mum help please!'
