Hardy Dahlia

This is my Dahlia merckii plant. It is hardy (in my garden) and comes up during the middle of April. Last year (2009), it grew to around 5ft and had plenty of flowers on it. This year, it started into growth late (due to the winter) and was then turned into a self service restaurant (without planning permission!) by the local snail and slug population!! By the time the restaurant was closed down, there were only a few small leafy shoots!
