Have a look at my blog WINTER SURVIVORS Valadel. I have never managed to overwinter perlargoniums any other way. Using provera is part of the way I do it. Thanks Gee. I have a mini greenhouse to put together. I got one for about half price recently, to go up against the house wall. It's wood and polycarbonate. I like your little sheds to declare war on hoarding. We have been throwing out quite a few bits too. I'll continue to use the plastic one in a hidden corner near the fence.

What is provera ? I've never heard of it.

I open the top by releasing the pegs and look to see if all is well and keep it clean and water if needed. Its right outside the back door. Not a pretty sight, but I like the challenge of keeping them alive over winter if I can. Provado helps protect against vine weevil. Suggest you google it and look at the pros and cons of using it.

Hi Dorjac .I am going to try your method for fuschia this year and wondered if you just put them under fleece in their pots as they are or if you trimmed them down a bit first? many thanks

Yes Helen they get cut back quite a lot. I should use bubble wrap over the pots as well as a double layer of fleece over the pots. You need a sheltered place and to put the pots close together too. I suggest this extra,as you are in Scotland. I did lose my favourite one ( still alive but only just), but it was ailing anyway. My pots are very large and the fuchsias are old too. I keep peeping in to clear any debris and sprinkle a little water. I also put other pots on the soil too over time and this gives more protection to the roots.
