Autumn Teasel Seedheads with Flowering Heliopsis

Autumn Teasel Seedheads with Flowering Heliopsis

I love the seedheads in my garden as well as the flowers. I had hoped these Teasels would encourage birds(particularly Finches) into the garden. But there are not many birds visiting at the moment due, presumably to the fields being full of foodstuffs at this time of year!I suspect, if the birds don't eat the seeds, I'll be pulling hundreds of Teasel seedlings out next spring!

Yes, I grew them for the autumn seed heads really in the hope they'd attract some birds.
They are dead easy to grow Motrgana. But Biennial, so won't flower first year. Shame, I've still got loads of seeds in my packet and even more on the plants, I could have sent you some.

The flowers are mauvey but soon turn brown like this with seeds, although I think most of my seeds have dropped already due to the styrong winds. I'll be picking out Teasel seedlings everywhere, next year, I think!

The birds don't seem to be visiting much at the moment Morgana. I think there's so much food in the fields for them at the moment, they don't need to visit bird tables. I did have two huge Magpies in my bird bath yesterday.
