Gardd Bodnant, Conwy North Wales

We visited the Bodnant Gardens last year after I had read a blog written about a visit by Neellan. I would like to say that the gardens are a MUST to visit, if you are ever in this part of Wales. The garden consists of a mere 80-acres and are located with the most spectacular views across Snowdonia.

It’s a National Trust Garden and I thought you’d be interested to see the opening times… Who can read Welsh??

This is the start of the walk. The long border was made up of lots of HOT colours. I’d like to create a hot border here at home so I took lots of pictures for inspiration!

This is such a beautiful poppy. I thought Poppylover might like it… I think it’s Papaver Ladybird? But I might have just made that up! :D

What a beautiful Fountain…

The House has the most amazing views… but isn’t open to the public

I love the bark on this tree but unfortunately can’t read it’s name now! :D

Just the idea for a tree seat at Home! :o)

The Water Lillies were absolutely spectacular!

Hydrangea were absolutely fab in 2012 – It must have been all the rain that we had…

Love this pot and the climbing Hydrangea too!

We’ll walk on to the Roses – it was a wonderful part of the garden. The Trellis and Obelisks were most impressive.

Sorry to say I don’t seem to have any close up’s of the Roses, which is such a shame as they had a lot of David Austin Roses – My favourites!

We visited in July and there is such a lot of the garden that I haven’t covered. Have a look at Neellan’s blog Today I visited……. dated 25 May 2012. Her blog prompted us to make this visit – and I’m so glad we did. Thanks Neellan :o)))

I can speak, write and read Welsh :o)

It looks a wonderful place to visit.
When we went on a holiday to that area several years ago, and intended visiting it, there was a terrible thunder storm, and they closed the gardens because of flooding :o(

I like that little white building in the 4th pic from last. I wouldn't mind that here lol :D

We have visited Bodnant many times Petal, although not in recent years, spent hours wandering the gardens and have hundreds of photographs, I even have my jigsaw of the house, it really is a wonderful place, the pond in front of the Pin Mill was absolutely full of huge Koi Carp the first times we visited, then we returned after a couple of years and they'd all gone, when we enquired as to their whereabouts someone had stolen them all, I was wondering if it is now restocked.
We always had our tea and scones in the cafe across the road and shared with all the lovely birds that were so used to the visitors they even came to the tables....
Thanks Petal, I`ve been reliving happy memories...

When we were there many years ago there were no fish in the pond because the otters had eaten them. Between otters and thieves life is difficult! It certainly is a beautiful place. Did you get the chance to go down to the stream in the bottom of the valley? Some unusual trees down there.

Definitely going to visit it one day. And the tree with the label looks like Acer griseum. And you're right - Hydrangeas loved the wet weather we had last year.
Thank you for sharing:)

So pleased you enjoyed your visit Tracey and that my blog was just in time for your visit to Wales other wise we would not have "met" in the GOY world! You took some lovely photos there, It is one of my favourite NT places to visit. They are making improvements to the gardens - opening up new areas and replanting others, it is a fabulous place so well cared for, they have a lot of keen volunteers helping too!

I have put it into my favourites. I hope to visit this garden.

Hi everyone thank you for liking and all the lovely comments. I'm glad my walk has brought back some lovely memories for some of you :o)))
OH and I don't remember Koi Carp in the pond - There were just so many water lillies that I was quite taken with them...
Diane - OH and I are early birds! We were there very early on a weekday, the car park was quite full when we left!
There is a large Restaurant and cafe outside the gardens, and there are also a few Craft shops selling Welsh produce, paintings and gifts and a friendly staffed Garden Centre. (Not NT) This is located just before you go through the gate into the garden. There's also a small cafe that does lovely lunches and cream teas. Well worth a visit! :o)))

Hi Tracey
I can see why you fell in love with this place. It looks beautiful. Really nice photos. Thanks for thinking of me when you photographed the poppies, they do look like ladybird. I must make a note to visit myself sometime in the near future. x

Wow you've taken some beautiful photos! I love Bodnant, one of my very favourite gardens anywhere! I associated it with holidays, as I usually visit when I'm holidaying in North Wales, as I often do.
