leeking pond cure

after reading about someones problem on here (who i hope sees this as i cant remember who it is) and having my own problem with a hole in my liner i went to see a friend in the fish pond/tropical fish about my dilemma . i asked him about a product said persen told me about bye king british.you aparently mix two things together and then fix your leek job done.however it didnt seam to work but i still asked.

this stuff is brilliant .its black, has an anti fungiside, goes of in about an hour,is good with fish and bio friendly and you can use it under water .it is good down to -40 and up to very hot . it costs about £8 from ridgeons and its use is for flat rooves normaly .its also a very good adhesive to .im now considering ,as my pond is raised ,cutting the front out of my pond and replacing it with glass so i can watch my 35" sterlet swim bye and all the other fish.i only baught him 2 years ago at about 10" long so im very pleased.if i hadnt of found this brilliant sealer my only other option was to empty my pond and realistacly have to get rid of my fish .i only used a little bit to .it also doesnt shrink and when dry will have that rubber quality that most cylicones have.ow and my orangutan is all but finished to.take care .i hope this helps people with there leek problems.it glues and seals lots of other materials to.take care bye for now .

well thats what this site is all about and why i like it .we are all helpfull and on a level playing field .i dont like taking without giving and its like the old friendly barter system without having to pay taxes etc lol .dont you mean the paintings of my pictures terra lol . i use pastel and for detail and hair fur etc i use water colour pencil . they cost about 80 pence each and are called caran dache .i seldom use them for there water colour use apart from the odd highlight . they arnt the most expensive but they are at the top end of the scale .i went through quite a few pencil makes before i found these . pastels dont seam to matter except i use square ones as its easier to lay down an even amount if im colouring a big area.i dont use the professional fixative as its expensive and you have to clear the room . i use after lots of experamenting silverkrin strong hold as you can imagine i get some strange looks buying it with know hair lol . anyway any help i can give please dont hesitate.take care bye for now .

yes just give it a good overlap and leave it 24 hours and should be fine.

Hi NP it was me also that had the problem with the pond and I did get the 'putty' which was made by King British. It has certainly helped plug the main hole at the bottom of the shallow end, but as I said there must be other holes as well, which we will look for when the weather is better. At the moment the pond is only leaking to about 6" below full. It needs topped up every couple of days but considering it was half emptying every day it's not bad, so I think the putty has worked.
The sealant you have found sounds good, has your friend used it? I may get some when we find the other leaks in the pond.

thanx so much jungle glad to be of help everyone.
skillen my friend owns the tropical fish part of blooms of diss and sells king british so if he advises me of bying this C.T.1and puts himself out of a sale i think ill take hid advise i guess he has . im not trying to sound patranising as im not trying to be .it is much better so the king british must of done the job.i had 2 big leeks done bye my spanial . i did it in 10 mins easy .you wont be able to see it when its settled in and you can do it underwater which mite realy be helpfull especialy to you skillen .i would let ya pond go down to the leak level then run ya hand round as its bound to be there somewear.ive got loads of the tube left and its a glue to so i can stick underwater lights behind the waterfall and glue the cables out the way.i think its cheeper to and definatly works.i fixed it and imediatle filled it and it hasnt gone down at all . it would of cost me a fortune as it goes ..you can get a torch at night in spring.lift ya liner away and put the torch behing.youl easily find the hole.anyway ill stop running on .keep me informed how ya get on take care bye for now people.

well my pond is fine and as the sealer is black and the patch you can barley see it and thats only because i used a kitchen green scourer to clean of the liner wear i fixed it .its brilliant stuff and it will be so usefull for lots of other projects .

Brilliant news NP, can I get it online from Ridgeons? It sounds really good and cheap at the price! Did you get a spare bit of pondliner and stick it on?

16 Feb, 2010

hello skillen i dont know if you can get it online but im sure you can . id say that ridgeons arnt the actual makers of this product and are just a distributer .you mite get it cheaper.i did use a patch as bye nature you move liners and i didnt want to glue the liner to the brick work though there is know reasen that you couldnt just put a layer of just the glue over your hole or hooles .you normaley find a bit extra liner round the edge . if not there know doubt you could get a little ofcut from a tropical fish place .you only realy need something plyable and waterfroof .im going to glue some underwater lights on my liner with this product as i have loads left and i think it will have lots and lots of uses in the future.i hope ive helped skillen let me know how you get on.take care bye for now xx .ps my pond is full still and looking good and my 3` sterlet is looking good.its one of my faverite fish.cant weight till its 6` .

brilliant skillen ill try to get a picture but with my camera it just might not be easy .infact i find photograghing even in my tank quite hard but ill give it a go .remember you will need a glue gun to go with the adhesive . take care bye for now and good luck xx .
