Garden helpers today!

This was a first having a couple of earnest helpers….perhaps you will remember the blog I wrote during the first lockdown when we were helped by a couple who live only a stone’s throw from us.Since then we have become friends with them and their two children. Mabel and Finnlay are such considerate, helpful children and a delight to be with.

As half term was nearing I suggested they might like to come and help in the garden…to which they jumped at with much enthusiasm….

Today was the day….had to think of some safe, interesting jobs,so decided to introduce them to the art of lawn edging (a job I loathe doing)….one used the half moon and the other the grass trimmer. They seem to take to that very well,so another job was needed!….sowing sunflower seeds was next followed by brushing up the fallen pink blossom.
Felt rather strange just standing and looking while others worked, but they seem to enjoy it all.
After a couple of hours it was time for a drink ,fairy cake and mini magnum…..

What a good idea - lets hope it is the start of a lifetimes interest for them.

It's nice that the they enjoyed. It helps them become interested in gardening and plants, and also teaches them to think of other people as well as them selves. They deserved their cake and mini magnum (whatever that is lol)

That's very good to see, young ones helping out and it must give them a lot of interest other than the usual things a lot of young ones do these days

Lovely pics, Julia! Looks like they enjoyed partaking in the lawn edging! That was good! It’ll do them the world of good, learning new things...they’ve done a smashing job! Bet it was worth it, especially having some lovely treats afterwards! 😊

How lovely to see two young folk actually gardening, rather than sat indoors at a console or computer!

Hywel, a mini Magnum is a little chocolate covered dairy ice cream on a stick - delicious!
