I do think about this tree pruning time with trepidation……although Ray has reached 69years and has much experience under his belt,I do wonder how much longer he will be able to do this.It actually was his 69th on the day he was cutting our trees,so we decided to buy a cup cake with a candle and served it with his tea break!.

The first photo shows the trees as they were before the cut…….the Forsythia and Kerria are a problem as they grow through the trees and have become very high.

My word, that hedge is quite a challenge! I think he earned his cup cake!! He made a wonderful, neat job of it.

It's a bigger job than I'd want to undertake at any age!
It would take more than a cup cake with a candle to get me up that ladder and trim that monster!!!!! but, he's done a very good job!

Wow, you wouldn't get either me or OH up there, and wouldn't have when we were 69 either...! I remember from another year what a fantastic job he makes of it.

Well done Ray, I could never do that.

Wow....happy birthday Ray...that's one hell of a hedge!

Blimey! Dare I say, albeit a beautiful hedge, maybe think about having it removed as a 70th birthday present to Ray, to take the stress out of it. I know the feeling as we have a similar big hedge that needs to come out.

I know exactly what you mean Julia, privacy is so important, we have conifers at our front, they are not tall and we would love to have them out and replace with something else but they do a fantastic job.

Crikey this gives me a nose bleed just looking at Ray up that ladder, but must admit once its all trimmed it gives a lovely backdrop to your planting.

We all have something that aggravates us. We need to do our hedges too, it's th clearing up and disposing of the waste that takes the time.
