lucky the dogs took no notice of this little fella!
I felt a bit rotten taking pics but he was very calm. Pics not so sharp as I had a huge long lense on!
Hope you enjoy my garden Swallow tale!

It’s not often you get to photograph a Swallow, standing still in your kitchen!!

:O :O !!!
Oh I would die if a bird came in my house. I hate them lol It's a phobia. They make my skin crawl uurrrrgghhhh !
Sorry about that. And I'm glad he kept still for the photo shoot :o)

Brill blog, bet you was so excited, mind you think my two cats would have a field day.

Oh dear Hywel, I know how some people don't like birds, esp chickens!
Clarice, lucky our feral cat lives outside, I hadn't put her into the equation!
The camera was luckily sitting on the kitchen counter because I don't think my mobile camera would have taken such close ups!

Glad it was you and not me lulu, like Hywel I am absolutely petrified of Birds.
I love to see them in the garden from the kitchen window but would faint if one touched me.

I`m amazed it didn`t panic and hurt itself and so pleased you had the camera handy, mind you if a bird got in here I`d panic in case the cats and dogs spotted it before me, its bad enough playing chase in the garden when they are after the new babies and the frogs, I get really cross if they catch one....
Does that mean summer has arrived for you?

He's a lovely little Swallow, Lulu. Good job you spotted him before he flew round and broke something . . .

Awwww what a delight! =)) Are there any nests around?

10 May, 2011

There are a few nests in the stables, bless them, and yes Summer has arrived!
Amazing how many folkes are afraid of birds, do we blame Alfred Hitchcock!!!
Just had a superbug in the room, looked like a hornet but with much bigger wings, didn't have my camera otherwise I would have taken a pic. It's been put out the window now!
Sleep well Y'all!

Hi San, just missed an excellent shot of a red woodpecker on the bird table, camera was downstairs!

Nice to see a close up photo of a Swallow but you wouldn't normally see one IN the kitchen window but THROUGH it! LOL!

Glad you were able to get it to fly away & without hurting itself. :-))

It was an amazing sight Balcony and it was surprisingly calm!!

Glad to know they've arrived - aren't they lovely birds?! We've just got back from Greece where we watched them diving across the surface of the pool, cleverly judging the height exactly right for a sip of water . . .wonderful.

Good value birds, love the way they 'Chitter'!
Did you have a good time in Greece?

15 May, 2011

How lovely, Lulu, your very own close encounter! I had a sparrow fly through my kitchen, across the hall and into my living room - I don't know who was more surprised. Like you I grabbed the camera :) Well done, great photos.

Used to get regular visits from various birds...best tactic is to wear leather gloves and get hold of the bird gently but firmly. Don't let them wriggle through any gap. Has to be gentle but firm at the same time. Open the door first to make no mistakes.....

Yes thanks Lulu . . . love the Greek islands . . . the sea is so blue and the people so friendly!
