Colour in the Garden.

It seems to have taken ages for some of the flowers to come out this year and my summer bedding was a dismal failure as are the roses, although I do keep getting the odd one that has escaped the rain.
Today was a mixture of sunshine and showers, the gardening jobs were done in easy stages as I did have to leg it into the house pretty sharpish at times..

My Asters are all coming into bloom now, along with the Dahlia`s and Gladioli…

My one and only Agapanthus bloom, still pleased though as I thought I`d lost them all, the Sweetpeas are still doing ok, I`ve had to give the last bunch away as hubby has succumbed to the dreaded hay fever and I can`t have them in the kitchen, bless him,( everyone say Ahhhh,) such a wimp at times, I told him he`s imagining it and no my flowers weren`t the cause, but to be honest I do think they were affecting him, lol…

I really like the dark poppy and must remember to collect some seed and the sunflowers have really cheered up a dull spot due to the lack of colour from the roses..

Even a few flowers in the pond again..

Lovely garden Lincs, I too love the colour of that Rose, it is a beautiful one. My garden was about a month later than it usually is to put on the best of the show, never known it as late as it is this year. Ah well it stays colourful for longer I suppose. Enjoyed the blog and pictures x

Lovely garden Lincslass,my early flush of roses was rubbish too but the good news is they're all covered in buds again here so hopefully we're in for a good late show :-)

Your garden is looking lovely now Lincs, its been a strange year and everything seems confused the rowan berries look almost ripe which seems very early and we've a mallard made a nest in a trough of hardy geraniums!

My roses as I said are giving me the odd flower now and again but although I gave them their usual prune they are all very leggy this year, I think the lack of light during all those dark rainy weeks is the cause, I forgot to put a pic up of my pink Hibiscus, its also doubled in size and its full of blooms, so thats another that likes a wet summer.
Our tadpoles have even been effected, usually we have tiny frogs all over the garden by now but I haven`t seen any out yet, some of them still haven`t got their little legs...

Lots of lovely colour in your garden Lincs I love the Asters and that Poppy is a gorgeous colour as is your Rose in the first picture, Im afraid the poor summer as affected lots of the roses and my Poppies were a complete failure this year. I have a similar problem with my OH over the Sweet Peas, he too is complaining about them triggering Hay Fever so I have been cutting bunches for a neighbour, Im afraid they are past their best now so Im going to dig them out and put a new Rose in their place;0))

Beautiful asters Lincslass, and the gladiolus is lovely - as is everything else. So glad your sweet peas did well (even if not appreciated by OH!) - mine just withered away and were a complete write off - all I have are a couple I put with the runner beans hoping to attract the bees.

You've got one Agapanthus flower, just like me lol, but I'm pleased you've got some sweet peas. None of mine germinated. . Pitty you can't have them in the house. My sister-in-law used to suffer with hay fever. It's a horrible thing to have :o(
I'm glad you were able to go outside today. We've had torrential non stop rain here.
And I like your Gladioli ...

The rose is very pretty and that poppy is a fabulous colour - don't think I've seen one like it. What a shame your husband suffers from hayfever, but your friends will love you for their sweet pea presents. It's strange; a lot of people have been saying that roses have been poor this year but - and I feel almost guilty about it - mine were better than ever, tho' not many still flowering. On GW tonight, Monty said that New Dawn should flower into October, whereas mine finished weeks ago and shows no sign of new buds. Loved Nigel with the gauntlet tonight!

I knew a hay fever sufferer who used to say that to him rain was 'liquid sunshine.' He loved it.

Did you say you have tadpoles Ll ? Your garden is still looking good, those asters are lovely, I've never grown them myself, must give them a go. I do love that pinky gladiolus a beauty. Roses have been a problem here this year, it seems the heavy rains wait until I have lots of open roses before dashing them. I have quite a lot of buds on my new Emma Hamilton roses, the last lot were battered by the rain, so fingers crossed. I can't wait for them to flower again they're so lovely and smell amazing:-)

Hi just catching up after being down your way with work for a few days. Garden looking lovely. It is a releif to see flowers at long last and I've also ben enjoying a sudden abundance of sweet peas but fortunately it's only me that suffers from hayfever in my house so it's self inflicted but very pleasant form of allergy!
