June in my garden…

After over two months without rain I’m relieved to say although not enough by any means at least we have had some steady rain over the last couple of weeks..
That means I’ve been able to get some of my plants into the garden, was beginning to think they would all end up in pots, despite that the the garden is bright with colours and everything is flourishing, the roses are doing exceptionally well..
My son has been creative again and made the mushroom house, the base is an old broken chimney and used a log to make the top, I love it…
Imagine how I felt the moment I found my standard rose damaged after a night of very high wind, it was a couple of weeks back, all I had in the ground was the stem, I discovered the head complete with blooms over near the bottom pond, I put it into the dogs pool…
I have since planted the head in the garden after first trimming off its bottom stems, you never know it might survive, I am hoping it does because it was the last rose Derek had bought for me two years before he passed away….
Below is one I nearly forgot to show, another favourite climber Handel….
My succulents in their summer place…
Acers once again in theirs, under the apple tree in the shade..
Enjoy your gardening folks xx

According to the local reports Karen it was a mini tornado that ripped over our side of the town, sadly in line with my garden, last year when that happened it destroyed our gazebo but the garden remained intact, I was working outside in the garden but down the bottom, frightened me I kid you not, the rose is named Nostalgia, I keep giving it a drink, just have to hope Karen.. I sowed a box of the wild flowers amongst the shrubs in my long border and pleased to say most of them are doing well, most of them I wouldn’t even class as weeds, lots of poppies amongst them, be interesting to see what colours they are…xx

We had something like that a few days ago Sue. I was in the shower. Day had been a bit breezy but nothing much. I left the parasol up. It’s a huge one. In the shower I hears some odd banging noise. Came down and still no wing to speak of, but the parasol was right across the garden. Luckily no damage. It happened to my neighbour as well. Weird!

Well, your roses are a picture…bar the one Derek gave you before he left us. That must have been a fierce gale! Hopefully you know the name and can replace it. Or….perhaps you might have to let it go to Derek. Your pond is lovely, I have always admired it. So well-crafted. We have had a lot more rain today and I am grateful as the spring was so dry. Hopefully some of my wild seeds will germinate in the wilderness across the road. So far, we only have Mustard, a few phacelia and some pretty pink vetch. The rest is all what you’d call weeds. Docks, thistles, buttercups etc. but they have their beauty as well….perhaps not the docks.
