was woken at four this morning by the dawn chorus,and was so exited to hear it I got up and had a cuppa on the back step just to listen to them,mainly blackbirds and robins at the mo but others will join them soon i think,I dont know why but this year i feel so optomistic for the year ahead and exited at the thought of spring,have a nice new year all,chris

Bamboo

I've got news for you, Ladybird - the robins and blackbirds sing from about 2 a.m. currently. I know cos I don't go to bed till at least then, and they're singing their hearts out, quite noisy it is too. Apparently part of their territorial, ready to mate procedure, heartwarming to think its already nearly breeding season. Lord knows when they sleep, they must be exhausted being up most of the night - the robin even feeds from the bird table at 2 a.m., I've seen him do it.

i heard them this morning ~ and was amazed ~ it was about 5.30am ~ what a lovely start to the day ~ makes all the difference
also noticed it wasnt dark till about 4.30 ~ i thought that was surprisingly late.
