I’ve been photographing the flowers in my garden during July, and made a blog from them.
The very hot weather has taken its toll on many, but they’re not so bad really.
My thermometer recorded 32 C in the shade one day, but I didn’t water any of the garden, except the Veronica once …
and although it felt rather uncomfortable on times, I prefer it to snow :o)

So here they are …

Clematis Venosa Violacea :-

Clematis Gypsy Queen :-

Clematis, Princess Diana :-

Pink Geranium :-

Roses :-
Dorothy Perkins :-

Crown Princes Margareta :-

American Pillar :-

Summer White :-

Gentle Hermione :-

Francine Austin :-

Rose Francine Austin, and Veronica :-

Veronica :-

Mallva :-

Malva and Veronicastrum :-

Veronicastrum :-

Variegated Hebe :-

A Ladybird …

Bella …

Dianthus (Pinks) :-

Dianthus (Sweet Williams) :-

Lonicera (Honeysuckle) :-

Sedum alba (Stonecrop) :-

Sanguisorba tenuifolia alba :-

Campanula lactifolia :-

Campanula persicifolia :-

Linaria :-

Lysimachia :-

Two Hypericums :-

An alpine Scabious …

Astilbe :-

Lythrum :-

Thank you for looking at my summer flowering plants. I hope we get more nice weather so that we can enjoy our gardens a bit longer :o))
(but not quite as hot as last time … lol)

Well all I can say Hywel that "everything in the garden is lovely " including Bella looking at your plants I think I over watered mine my OH kept telling me let them enjoy warmth :-)

Absolutely beautiful Hywel. That clematis you said you did not know it's name, could it be 'Prince Diana'?

Thanks for all your nice comments about my garden ... and Bella lol ... She likes to sleep under a clump of Michaelmas Daises, where it's nice and cool :o)

Michaella it might be that name. I don't know. I'll call it that - thank you :o)

Kidsgran, I didn't water my garden at all, only the things in pots, and I gave the Veronica water once, because it wilted. But that was more than warmth we had lol It was HOT ! :o)

Very nice Hywel, lovely pics and nice to see Bella enjoying herself :-)

Looks great Hywel. My garden has had a lot of heavy rain which flattens lots of plants and creates spaces where you don't want them. Yours look so upright.

What beautiful flowers, Hywel. Your garden is a credit to you. I love the pick clematis you don't know the name of. I have 6 Clematis around the garden at the last count, but I've forgotten what half of them are called..must be old age lol!
I'm also a cat lover, although we don't have one at present. I think Bella is gorgeous, does she like it when you groom that lovely coat?

I did so enjoy looking round you garden, while having a cuppa! Everything looks so healthy, the clematis are beautiful, the roses are lovely and your Veronicastrum would look lovely in my orange border.... can I come round and "pinch a bit" Lol :-)

Your garden is just screaming summer Hywel! Considering you haven't watered - it all looks great!
Your clematis are gorgeous - I agree re id Princess Diana or something relating to her. I've lost 2 of these plants and am sooooo jealous! The newest of which was only planted 4 weeks ago - she obviously doesn't like my garden. I complained at the nursery and they told me to dig the newest one back up and return it.
Your Sanguisorba cuttings are coming on great. I got 4 pieces potted up, lost 2 and 2 are coming away. I forgot to ask what height will it grow too - I'm going to plant it out come autumn and need to find the right spot!
Bella looking every bit the darling that she is :)

Hey Hywel, what a fab selection of pics! I love the purple/pink/white selection as it is my fave. Plus like everybody else above the Pink Clematis is amazing. Bella is one cool cat. My sister just got 2 kittens and she has gone for Booth and Bones as their names. Thanks for posting fab pics... I am jealous of the fab roses!

Thank you all for reading my blog ... and your comments :o)

Thanks for the name Jaykaty. I think it is Lythrum.

Paul, no Bella is not behaving :o) She isn't supposed to do that lol

Waddy, Bella hates being brushed. I'll have to do it today though, because there are some knots behind one of her ears. ... not looking forward to it lol

Scottish, Thanks for confirming my Clematis's name :o)
I'm pleased to hear about the Sanguisorba.

Really lovely plants Hywel, the veronicastrum looks good. The pussy cat is pretty. I have one looks like that around the garden. Someone else feeds her. She has multi owners. One for a lap, one to feed, one for a garden to lounge about and bird watch. Goodness knows who else in the street. I call her Spooky. Next door call her Fluff. She does not care as long as she can be an independent moggy.

Thank you :o)
Cats are such strange creatures. We once had one that we shared with someone in the next street ... He was thrown out of a passing car, and then made his new home in the two places ...

Lovely garden Hywel and all looking so pretty, this heat has been killing hasn't it? A lot of my flowers are ending now but they have been very tolerant of this heat. That pretty 'pink' I think is called Doris, reminds me of my Nan as she loved them. :)

4 Aug, 2013

Thanks for the name of the Pink. I remember it now :o)
Today's rain has flattened all my plants - it's been so heavy. Whatever isn't lying on the ground, is nearly doing it ! It's been really bad.

4 Aug, 2013

Oh Hywel, you can't win can you? We need water and you are getting too much! Sorry it's battered your plants, maybe they will pick up later on, hope so. :)

5 Aug, 2013

It's all or nothing lol ... still pouring down here, and no sign of it stopping.

5 Aug, 2013

What lovely photos, Hywel! I love to see your flowers, you have such a wonderful collection there! :-))

We reached 32ºC the other day here as well! Even in our living room last Thursday we had nearly 30ºC!

Just this evening, around 5.30, we had a heavy shower that lasted the better part of half an hour.

With the very hot July this year everything seems to have recovered from the coldest spring in many years. Still 30ºC in the UK is TOO MUCH! Much more comfortable if it is in the mid 20s!

Wow, your clematis are gorgeous, Hywel, in fact you've got so much colour wherever you look. Lovely blog and so nice to see a ladybird :)
