The garden is waking at last...

and four crocuses are out. Here’s the biggest. In real life they look more purple than blue.

At the moment, these are about the sum total of colour, apart from a couple of pulmonarias just showing tiny blue and purple flowers, and a small clump of snowdrops which is now looking rather tired. The February Gold daffodils seem unsure which month it is and wait with buds tightly sealed.

Encouragingly, the flock of sparrows visiting the garden is the largest I’ve ever seen. There are usually around nine of them, but sometimes as many as fifteen. Sometimes they are joined by great or blue tits. There is also a greedy blackbird who is often first on the mealworms. Here are some of the visitors to my ‘bird cafe.’

Nice to see the crocuses eventhough they might be slow. As the year goes on you'll have more and more colour I'm sure :o)

Nice pics. Hr The bird population make up for the amount of flowers you
have in your Garden. The Crocus looks pretty, it does look purple
which, i prefer to blue, as i like dark colours. I do love your
`Bird Cafe`. And i think your little visitors agree with me. Also like the pic.
where the little bird is leaning over the Bird Bath to have a drink,

Thank you. The bird house is a special mealworm feeder, you can get them from Wiggly Wigglers. Be warned though, if you start feeding the birds live mealworms they come to expect them and it can get quite expensive ;-) I have an arrangement with my friend down the road: we take it in turns to order six tubs and then give the other three - that way, the birds always have fresh...
