Went to our local mini library this morning to book tickets for a talk about ‘Great Dixter’, by Fergus Garrett the head gardener, I am really looking forward to this and was glad to get hold of the tickets which I hear are in great demand. On the way out of the library, with a spring in my step because I was pleased and tickets in hand, I stopped to read various notices on the wall etc when a lady approached me, ‘I think you might like this leaflet’, she said, i thanked her and on the way down the library steps I nearly tripped and fell, the leaflet was from Age concern, telling me how to keep warm this winter and that i should be looking after myself………………. Well, now I know my hair is going grey and I have laughter lines but……………well, i now feel much older and weaker and more helpless and boy did I laugh!
I do realise however that there are folk that need help and advise, i am not laughing at anyone other than myself!
Thought you would like to know, it is so good to have a giggle!

SMILE. Lol

:D It's good to see the funny side of things isn't it lol. After I fell backwards down a 7 ft drop a few months ago, I couldn't get up because I was laughing too much :D
And only a few days before that, I fell down the stairs - and had another laugh :D

I hope you enjoy the talk.

Great Dixter is a wonderful garden Grandmag - should be a great evening. Just be careful getting out of the car park in your bath chair . . LOL! ;-))

Thanks YoungD. Hywel & Muddy, you have made me laugh even more now! I fell down a few stairs at home once and really hurt my knee and my hubb was in the car outside reving the engine while I groped on the floor when he came in, quite cross by this time, he rolled up and said why are you sitting on the floor, well if i could have got up I would have hit him! Its funny what makes us laugh isnt it! and Muddy, I will be careful that evening! Lol

Your blog made me laugh, too, Grandmage, especially as I often manage to trip over and take a tumble. Years ago I fell over while walking with my 3 children near some man made lakes. They looked back and then walked on, totally ignoring me sprawled on the ground. When I asked them why they said 'I thought you were just having a close look at some plant or other' :)

Cheeky so and so ... and you only 23!!! lol

made me laugh too, I was in Morrisons three weeks ago and picked up free range eggs, and old man said to me, put those down my dear and buy these they are much cheaper, I did as I was told then realised they were from battery hens, I waited for him to turn his back so I could put them back, he caught me, told me off and said don't you remember my dear, we used to go to work on an egg, I just stood and laughed out loud, he toddled off I got my free range eggs, if I tried going to work on an egg it would crack under me,

Laughter is a very good tonic and if you can`t laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at, as to bumps and scrapes my gardening injuries have started again already and i`ve only really been out again this week, the roses grabbed me and I`ve a lovely cut on the top of my head, lol...

I did smile as I was reading :) I'm often mistaken for my mother's sister - it makes me most irate!!! She laughs her head off. I have more grey hairs than her :(
Enjoy your treat - we will all be looking forward to hearing about it :)

Cheeky B's...Don't forget to take your knitting and Mint Imperials. ;0)

Forgot to say that I visited Great Dixter a few years ago before Christopher Lloyd died. I loved the garden but really fell in love with the house. So pleased you got your tickets, Grandmage, I'm sure you will enjoy the talk :)

17 Feb, 2012

Gee's so right . . . the house is a treat, as much as the garden at Great Dixter. :))

17 Feb, 2012

So it's not just me then?!!!! ;o)

I recently had to go and register with the rest of the wrinkly population at the local clinic as being old enough (over 65) to get free healthcare and medicines (some), and asked at the reception desk where I needed to go. "But why, Signora? Are you disabled and not working?" No, I'm an old woman and drawing a pension. "Ma! Complimenti, Signora! I would never have guessed!". And I trotted off with a big grin on my face, feeling very full of myself. It was somewhat spoiled by hearing her say the very same words to another, much older lady as I passed the desk on my way out. Darn it!

Lovely stories folks! Its is good to have a chuckle, even if you dont know the people it happened to it is the description that makes it twice as funny. Hb. had visions of bloomers showing there as you slipped down the stairs!! Lol.Crissy your poor hub. hang on to him in future! Thanks Paul & Sheila, my hub has changed his varifocals back to ordinary ones and now carries three pairs around with him! Me I have just 2 pairs! Lincs. hope you scratch is ok? Roses can be nasty, a bit like brambles!! Hi scottish, its funny you know I go out with my friend who is 8yrs younger and I am often called her mum!!!!!!!!!! b.cheek! Thanks Pim. I prefer werthers! Lol.
Bilbo- hope good rates, might take you up on that!
Gee, we are going to Highgrove in April and my friend is really looking forward to seeing 'charlies house' and I am looking forward more to the garden!
Nariz, no, apparently not!
Gattina, a quick way to wipe that smile off your face!! Lol

18 Feb, 2012

Gattina, That is so funny, you made me laugh. Sorry :))))

18 Feb, 2012

Well, at least Gattina felt good for half an hour! I know who my REAL friends are . . . the ones who say I look ten years younger than I am, lol.

18 Feb, 2012

Trouble is Sheila my friends dont say that to me LOL. !!

18 Feb, 2012

I have to admit the sentiment is getting rarer, Gill!

18 Feb, 2012

All my friends need glasses.......

18 Feb, 2012

Noooo Gattina . . . far better that your friends can't see too clearly :))

18 Feb, 2012

lol great story Grandmage, thats how i felt when i went into a mobile phone shop, wanted a phone which had a loud ring and tones as i have tinitus, well then the lad started talking to me as if i was 90 and going blind to lol i soon said thankyou and goodbye hahaha :o))

18 Feb, 2012

Exactly the same as me, Sanbaz - I have a new 'phone, and adjust the volumes as I can, I STILL can't hear the darned thing in my handbag. Daughter speaks to me as though my deafness bestows idiocy on me. It's hereditary, Honey - just wait and see............

18 Feb, 2012

Love it San. that made me chuckle, have you noticed when anyone glasses, people seem to speak a little slower than usual, we should all write a book it would be a scream. Gatt. I cannot hear my darn phone in my bag either even with high volume on Lol.

18 Feb, 2012

The joys of age , folks !

18 Feb, 2012

A bit daunting Driad, but we cannot change the sands of time!

18 Feb, 2012

It comes to us all.......lol I fell out of bed once and fell on my watch and cracked the face....OH thought it was hilarious!!
Lucky you attending a talk by Fergus G, have never been to Great Dixter but have a lovely book all about the gardens, have always been a big fan of Christopher LLoyd.

18 Feb, 2012

Thanks Dd. I have never been either so this is as near as I will get Lol. I had to laugh about your watch, doing that will not halt time Dd. I'm afraid!!!! :~) Brilliant.

19 Feb, 2012

Ha ha......if only!!

19 Feb, 2012

My daughter was offered a leaflet for the U3A...she was with her 5 year old at the time! Not pleased lol:-)

23 Feb, 2012

I think Ba. that these people are getting paid to give out say 2000 leaflets in a day and without a thought (or the cost) they hand them out to everyone! Very short sighted in my opinion.

24 Feb, 2012

Maybe that's the problem Gm...should have gone to Specsavers;-)))

24 Feb, 2012

Lol Ba. :~))
